I`m sure music lovers will understand this.
Any tip of music you love, if you really love it, then you will understand...
MAN...it`s been almost a month since AC/DC announced that the legendary Malcolm Young is "taking a break" from the band.
Some say he had a stroke, some say he will never perform again, not in the studio, not on stage.
Duuuudddeeee...you have no idea how much that hurts me. Still. I was about 6 or seven years old when I first heard Powerage, not too long after that - Dirty Deeds...and from then on, there really, really, really hasn't been a day in full without me cranking up at least half of a song of the masters.

And Malcolm, of course, was always there. Like the Mirror. uk newspaper says...." ...that it is, and always has been, Malcolm’s band. Because it is his canyon-shaking, thunderstruck riffs that have always been the foundation of their sound.
Back in Black? That was him. Whole Lotta Rosie? Oh yes. Highway To Hell? Why of course. You Shook Me All Night Long? You’re welcome."

Malcolm..stay alive for us. For the hundreds of millions of fans who like you, not only as a musician, but as an amazing human being.
Just stay alive and healthy enough to be a happy man for the rest of your days.
Everything else..you already did it, brother, you have something to be proud about.
Rock on, big guy....

I've been hoping he makes a full recovery. I thought I heard he had cancer but I can't confirm that. I've always admired those guys for staying together as long as they have and for not getting away from what they are so damn good at. Every time I see them interviewed, they always seem to get along with one another and I always enjoy listening to the band members tell their road stories.

I hear you Srbo. I love all kinds of music and is is sad to think he may never perform again. AC/DC is truly a band for the ages.

I have always been a huge Linda Ronstadt fan, and to find out that she can no longer sing a note due to Parkinson's is very upsetting. To think that amazing voice has been silenced forever is heartbreaking.

I completely understand how you feel Srbo.
It is amazing how personally related, and emotionally attached, you can become to individuals who you only know through their art but have never met!
A you say Malcolm has been responsible for a lot of great AC/DC numbers, and he is known to be the "driving force" behind the band.
In a recent Classic Rock Magazine article, Ian Jeffrey, a former long time AC/DC Tour Manager said of Malcolm....

"The band belonged to him. It was Malcolm who told (drummer) Phil Rudd to stick to the beat; Malcolm who told (bassist) Cliff Williams where to stand and when to come to the mic.
When Brian joined, it was Malcolm that told him to shut the smuck up between songs and just stand there and sing.
It would always be Malcolm, every direction or turning they took.
At the end of the day, when the big decisions come down, Malcolm is the guy who really thinks about things and gets the results."

Let's hope that Malcolm overcomes his health issues and the band goes on.
Trouble is I understand that Brian Johnson has Barrett's syndrome, a condition that affects the oesophagus, and which can lead to cancer.
Let's pray that their 40 year career in Rock 'n' Roll is not over!

May I ask you, did you mean a June issue 197? The most recent Classic Rock I could buy today in my area was March/April one, with Queen on the cover, but it doesn't seem to be the one you referred to.

Neither did I know this !
You have a link to that, a source, bro? I can`t find that info...

Wiki brings me here and also says "However, doctors were able to prevent the disease from developing into cancer". Moreover, I haven't found any more recent news about that, so well, we propably still can hope for better...

I came across it in an article, again in Classic Rock Magazine (issue 191) December 2013, celebrating AC/DC's 40 years in Rock. It stated that in 2009, seven shows had to be cancelled or postponed, with no explanation. Only some month's later did Brian Johnson admit that he had been diagnosed with Barrett's syndrome.

I've just Google searched for the latest and found an article from April 18th 2014 that confirmed Brian has Barrett's syndrome but that it was caught in time to prevent it developing into cancer. So that's good news.
Here's the link to that article if you're interested..
