Hi. I joined just so I could comment on this sad news. AC/DC has been with me since I was 16 back in 1979 when "Highway to Hell" came out. I was HOOKED on AC/DC from that moment on. I only got to enjoy Bon for less than a year before his passing on my birthday in 1980. I remember seeing the advertisement for "Back in Black" in a music magazine a few weeks before the album came out. Back in Black just blew every rock fan away. That album was pretty much standard-issue tunes at any party for at least 3 years after it was released. I play guitar, and have learned about 90% of AC/DC songs. I just turned 51, and to me, AC/DC has been the biggest symbol/connection to my youth (not to mention the darn good music!). As long as they kept rocking, I would always feel young inside. Crank up "Back in Black", and I'm 17 again! Malcolms illness has made me realize we are all mortal.

On the bright side, after Bon's passing, AC/DC considered calling it quits, but they knew Bon would have wanted them to continue. Last week, AC/DC (less Malcolm) arrived in Vancouver to start work on the new album. I hear the band will have Malcolm and Angus's nephew so fill those giant shoes. He filled in while Malcolm got a handle on his drinking in the early/mid '80's. He knows all the songs, has a similar playing style, and according to some, is very similar in appearance to Malcolm. I'm glad to see they are moving forward, and I pray that Malcolm makes a full recovery and can retake his rightful place! Get Well Malcolm, and good luck mates in Vancouver on the new album...you are only a 3 1/2 hour drive from me. Might drive out and see if I can get a few pics outside the studio. Autographs would be sweet too, but I wouldn't want to bother the boys during this stressful period. Thanks to the OP for starting this thread!

Hoping for a speedy recovery.

I saw AC/DC with Bon Scott. I found the date on this concert page

Denver, CO USA, Rainbow Music Hall | The Official AC/DC Site

June 29, 1979 - I was two days away from turning 18.

I remember it was quite an experience seeing them. This was before the Highway To Hell album was released and they were not very well known in the US at the time. The Rainbow Music Hall was approximately a 1500 seat place. I had been listening to them for a couple of years (I think Let There Be Rock and Powerage were the only available albums in the US other than imports) but I had no idea what they looked like. This was before the internet age and I had never seen them except for the cartoonish album covers. So when Angus came bouncing out in his schoolboy uniform, we were a little surprised. ;-D The show was great and it was a great thrill to be able to see them in such a small place and with Bon.

You have no idea how lucky you are to have this experience! :) It must be really a lifetime memory... Last and the only time they were playing in Russia was 1991, Monsters of Rock festival in Moscow- I've been already born (in the wrong time lol), but I still was a baby...Gosh, and that's how I'm starting to feel like each time when reading this thread :a11:

Am I right in thinking or did Bon Scott start off in a completely different style? I'm sure I had an album and it was something weird liked "Bon Scott and the " something or other. Unfortunately in a completely deluded moment I gave all my albums to someone who said they'd put them onto tape for me and I never saw them again :-( I'm going to have to google this but I'm SURE he was.

Not long before die-hard AC/DC fans will be able to hear Angus and Malcolm's first ever recorded work.
On June 2nd, (in the UK at least), the Marcus Hook Roll Band's only album, 1973's Tales Of Old Grand-Daddy is being re-released.
The Marcus Hook Roll Band was a studio project led by George Young, (their older brother who was rhythm guitarist with The Easybeats back in the 60's), and this one off album was only originally released in Australia.
Here's a track "Red Revolution" from that album, which has a bit of an AC/DC feel to it. Enjoy..
