As I have mentioned elsewhere on this fine community, Marcus Sakey is one of my absolute favourite ”new” authors. A Better World is the second book in the Brilliance trilogy. A sci-fi series about people with a genetic mutation that makes them something of savants in different ways. That is the canvas. The plot and storyline is that of the conflict between these ”abnorms”, or ”brilliants”, versus the rest of humanity, or ”norms” as they are called in the books.

Sakey does not disappoint. This is a thrilling ride, beautifully crafted and well researched. There were moments when I could almost feel my heart drop, and most definitely feel my pulse accelerating whilst my inner voice went, ”No!”

As I have said before, I was taken by surprise when Sakey went from writing kitchen sink crime novels to science fiction. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise, and now I can barely wait until part three of this fantastic series is published.

There may come a time when y'all will grow tired of me talking about this Sakey character and finally go out and get one (or several) of his books. In that case, I have succeeded, until then I will keep nagging. It's for your own good.
