Was wondering how many here use media mail. I been sending books alot to friends and family. I use media mail most of the time. As it is much cheaper. But sometimes it bothers me as they tell you no notes or cards can be included. I am wondering what it would hurt. Anyone have an thoughts to share on this? Today I send out several packages and the mail lady looked at me and kept asking ,do you have notes in any on these. No.

What? A note is going to add all of how much weight to the package? Little man in the back, moving packages about, throws out his back...kicks your carefully wrapped package to the side...they call out the USPS SWAT team...call in the little robot...the Drive-By Media shows up...Homeland Security is notified...you got the little drones flying past the house window. Yeah...can't see anything going wrong. I get copies of invoices in book packages when they arrive. Often times there's a note on the invoice, 'thank you for your business!' Why are they afraid? People communicating? Put "No charge! Thank you for the business!" on the note and call it good.

I use it whenever I'm mailing books in the US (and I wish they had it for overseas!). I might slip a few lines into a book now and again. Maybe. I'm not confirming anything ;)

OMG - I have never been asked if there was a note or a card inside!!! And I always send one if it's to a friend. :a11: I've even included other things because I didn't know any better. Now I'll have a moral conundrum on my hands in the future.

I didn't even know this - I always stick a note in the middle of the book somewhere. I'm such a rebel. Don't tell the postal police.

Your tax dollars at work.

Consider this logic......

The post office is threatening to cancel Saturday regular mail delivery. IMHO, no biggie. I can wait until Monday to get the junk mail and bills. However, they plan to keep weekend package delivery. What kind of craziness is that?! Personally, I think their sniffing envelope glue.........

If they ask if you have a card or letter enclosed in a package say No. It's just their way to add a charge to your package because they're desperate to make more money, since the USPS has lost money every year, and remains in operation only due to taxpayer funding. (Meanwhile, the guy who's been running it? His salary has been over $400,000 per year.)

I follow a 'don't ask, don't tell policy'. I've never been asked :)
I was once asked if my package contained books, and when I said Yes I was told that I couldn't send it Media Mail, that I'd have to pay more. I'd always mailed books Media Mail. I don't know what the dude was talking about. I've never been asked if I was mailing books before or since.
