He was from a small town close to me.

R.I.P. He took his stutter and became a beloved singer and comedian.
I remember when I was a kid, my parents and grandparents went to see him and got to meet him after the show. My dad was laughing about it when they got back because mom kept finishing his sentences for him.
She just couldn't help herself. I think they saw him several times. He lived close and used to play around here quite a bit.
