I wanted to start a thread on this amazing author. I have been an admirer of his books since he published his 6 volume set of The Blackwater series way back in the '80's. That was my first taste of his fiction and after that I went out and found as many of his books as I could. I have been able to get a few members here to try him out and they have liked (if not down right loved) his books! His writing is top notch, filled with many horrific images and yet he is able to balance that out with humor. He's written a couple of novels set in the late 1800's and fills them with alot of great details. He also has written mysteries under a few different psuedonyms. Today, while visiting his 'author's page' on amazon I discovered that there are two other non-de-plumes that he wrote under, using these names to author two series of books based in Vietnam. I am going to head out to my local used bookstore and see if they have any of these books! I thought I knew all of his aka's but was wrong. Here's a list of them that I know of:

Nathan Aldyne (Mysteries set in Boston with a gay theme, quite entertaining and lots of humor)
Axel Young (contemparary horror)
Two new ones for me:
Mike McCray
Preston Macadam

If anyone knows of any more aka's he's used please let me (and others) know!

Only read the Blackwater series (and yes because of youy!!!) What ought to be the next step??
Another Michael McDowell book, of course! Kurben, I see that most of his books are now available for Kindle, etc. Do you have a 'reader' that you could download them instead of trying to find the actual physical books and have to pay outrageous posting costs?

Never heard of him, love. But on your recommendation I'll give him a try.
I do love some vintage fiction.
