I'm sorry but someone up top need to communicate with this book store manager. This is the only one out of 12 stores that made u get tickets in person. Every single other 1 u could get online. Bc they had a little smarts.

Cute little town but no parking. When I saw the line I was like o my gosh. I asked some people where u park they said good luck. She had to walk over a half mile away. Ridiculous. This was 2 hours before the sales even started. What did this guy think. 2 or 300 people show up. It's stephen king! ! Did he do it for greed to bring people in the store. Good luck if u want to wait 2 hour to cash out.

That line would have taken 3 hours or more to get thru. Now this is my personal stuff that no one cares about but I had my kids birthday party at 3. I drove an hour and 20 min to get there. I would have never made it back. Ugh. Wasted . Guess I won't see him but just had to rant on this idiotic decision.

I hope word gets up there that someone this famous shouldn't have in person. Total mess

Guess i will try and enjoy the scenic ride home .

Well, I was one of the fans who was in line for 3 hours and didn't get a ticket. I stayed because I also wanted to get a ticket to see David Baldacci next month.

Many people in line with me were complaining about the way this ticket sale was handled. I had no idea that all of the other stores on this tour let you buy tickets online! I do intend to call the owner (a woman) and ask her about that decision. Most complaints that I heard involved the small venue size (only 600 seats), and the fact that their email made people think that there would be another 2 days of ticket sales after today. Apparently they really! underestimated the number of fans who would show up on the first day! I was in line with people who had come from Cleveland and New Jersey. And some of the people at the front of the line has been there since 1:30pm yesterday!

That is just crazy. Even if he was coming to my neighborhood, there is no way I could stand in a line for that long. I physically couldn't do it. I will have to admire from afar.

I believe Marsha (Ms. Mod, Mr. King's personal assistant) said that they didn't have much to do with where the sponsoring book stores chose to hold the event; booking an outside venue (or not) and ticketing was up to the individual stores. Stinks when it doesn't go the way we want it to go, but the big details of these events is usually done in-house--at most, the publisher might have a bit of a say, but not always.

I have no idea what ur talking about. Who is she? I have no idea who she is and whoever she is never asked her to apoligize either. Neither did I say anything about it being steven fault either. Ofcourse he had nothing to do with it. Daaaaa. Who on this earth would think king is doing the grunt work such as ticket info for his own tour lol.Your injecting a ton into my message that's just not there. Next time read a little more carefully before u decide to pop off at the mouth. Ur the one whose is out of line. So comforting to be able to just go off on someone u don't even know and treat em like you have the right to rip at em from the safety of ur keyboard. No need for that at all. I mean just no need for it. Rather u just say that's sucks for you and move on.

I would gladly wait in line that long (probably longer) but that doesn't mean it is a good idea. It is kind of a difficult situation. If they do it online, the tickets literally vanish within ten minutes, and it is harder to prevent re-sellers (or scalpers) from snapping them all up. Making people come to the store does give locals a chance, or at the very least it makes it harder on those with another agenda. All in all, I think we should remember that buying tickets online is a relatively new thing. For the most part, you had to stand in line for these things until relatively recently. I suspect that if I had a bookstore, I would cut the number of tickets three piles. One third would sell online. One third would sell to first come first serve in line. And the final third would be done by lottery. That is to say, people could sign up online or in person early. Those drawn could then purchase them when announced. Any that are not bought by the winners (for any reason) go into the line batch.

My question to you is, What were you thinking?? You would just show up couple hours before sales and walk right in and get a ticket? You obviously acknowledge the popularity of Mr. King.

Sounds like you are the one that made in your terms the "idiotic Decision" by not doing your research, not even looking at any post online about size of line, how many people ect. This is nothing new for any SK event, rather it be online sales, in person sales, ect. Expect lots of people, and fast sell outs. Period.

It sounds to me like instead of complaining on a public forum about your missed opportunity, you should of just simply been more prepared.
People came from all over for this, some as far as Canada, I myself drove 5 hours one way. So an hour and 20min drive to show up 2hrs before tickets are on sale cant say there is anyone to blame but yourself.

And this sentence don't even make sense.
"I hope word gets up there that someone this famous shouldn't have in person. Total mess"

Also, I highly doubt that the Owner (female) of Penguin books "did this out of greed" in fact from my understanding the small independent stores that Stephen and his staff CHOOSE are solely to benefit and support the small book store and the communities that they are in. I am sure she did not call up SK's people and tell them he was going to make a visit to her town and her bookstore so she could make tons of money. I am willing to bet she was quite grateful for Stephen's generosity and support of small town independent book shops around the world and did her best to accommodate a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I feel like your complaints are misguided at best.

I'm sorry you missed your chance at tickets, but in the future a little research and planning goes a long way.

Personally, I am still waiting for The Bookworm, Omaha, NE to open ticket sales, even thought it's a 4 hour drive one way from where I live, at least if I had an opportunity to stand in line to purchase my ticket I may have half a chance, buying tickets online can be the real joke...sold out in minutes, then reposted for sale at a couple hundred above cost maybe more. Sorry that your trip didn't work out the way you had planned, got to be able to "roll with it" one never knows what to expect.

While I am sorry you had a bad experience, you are lucky you at least had a chance. I'm not complaining, but SK has never been to Ireland. I'd at least like to have the chance. Maybe one day I'll get the chance and if I'm not lucky enough to get a ticket I hope I won't whine.

...OK, "sucks for you"....and I have every right as a longtime member of this Board to put you in your place if I feel it necessary...after careful review of your post, the tone of it certainly was one of maligning our Moderator and Mr. King...and "from the safety of my keyboard"?????....really??....dude, I go 6'9' and 350 pounds...I don't need a keyboard to protect me....and considering others agreed with me after they read my post-your intent was quite clear though your punctuation and grammar are not....

I was going to say something about that as well, glad you got to it.

Felt like I was reading a text from a 17 year old girl.

This went sideways rather quickly. In my humble opinion chief4db was referring to someone at the top of the book event, not Mr. King or Ms. Mod. That being said, I have seen GNTLGNT interject in the past and he is usually bang on in his assessments, so I could be wrong here. As far as the 17 year old girl comment from Machines Way, that was rather uncalled for. You could have sent GNTLGNT a side post showing your support, rather than the insult. We are all fans of Mr. King and also, from what I have observed, a unique collective of big-hearted, humble, compassionate, and sympathetic folks who are quite accepting of others. All the best to all of you. Peace, mal.

...I'm probably going to pi** the guy off even more, and may have the post yanked by the ladies in charge, but it needed to be said....I don't suffer impertinence quietly.....
...and having once again, walked the razor's edge....I will withdraw from the playing field so as to not create any more issues for the Mods.....they should know by now how huffy I get when I feel they have been disparaged or Steve himself cast in a bad light....

Hi GNTLGNT, Based on what I know of you I cannot believe you'd bear anyone any ill will. It's nice to know there are stand up guys out there like yourself who will intervene when and if necessary. mal
