If this thing is to ever see the light of day or dark of theatre, a good deal of story boarding needs to be done...this is the man's Magnum Opus and as such deserves meticulous preparation...otherwise those of us who are fans will simply savage it and it will die an unseemly cinematic death...

I'm presuming at least four features to do it adequately, which is one reason I think Jackson would be the best director choice, since he's succeeded with the three (LOTRs).

...no question that Jackson proved he could screen a worthy film adaptation of a much loved series....

I just read where Sony has set a date for the first movie in the Dark Tower series for January 13, 2017. With the exception of the name of the Director (Nikolaj Arcel), is there any other news about this - say like who's in it? I did look around and couldn't see another thread.
I've just found a prior thread, so will merge yours with that one. :)

I'm rereading the Dark Tower 7 again and I'm fully into my own daydreams about Roland and his ka-tet.....so this news about the movie with a director and release date fits perfectly with my nearly nonstop fantasying.....I just hope it happens and they do the story justice. The January release has me a little worried but oh well, now just waiting on them to start casting. I try not to be to picky about changes from book to movie but it will be hard with this one, having spent so many years loving this series (I personally was stuck on Blaine the pain for four years) I'm sure I'll nitpick too much but enjoy it as well. Soon I'll know how A Song of Ice and Fire fans feel watching their beloved books edited for tv.

I'd be afraid to watch it and afraid not to watch it. Who is playing Roland?
I'm not sure who's attached (if anyone) to that role now. The last one I'd heard was Russell Crowe but I think that's gone by the wayside since so much time and different producers have come and gone since then.

Its gonna be exciting, seeing what they tease over the next few years. They should have Sai King on set, giving them orders! And direction
