Hi everyone. I planned to write some beforehand but didn't find the thread. Anyway... King really puts a lot into these 30 pages. He creates a picture of the fair, gives us two likeable characters in Janice and Augie that you had hoped to see more of. Introduces the rather low Hodges (i like the scenes where he sits and watches that stupid show and fingers with one hand on the gun). It gives us a clear picture of how far down the ladder he is. Then the letter which gives us the first glimpse, through a web of lies but still a glimpse, of Brady himself. Not forgetting the massacre scene which is very well written. All this in 30 pages and with more substance than another author in 100 pages is really excellent writing and a great start.
