I follow several TV critic websites and all I've been hearing is how great Mr. Robot is. So I decided to check out the pilot, and it was one of the best pieces of TV I've seen the last year. This series is only four episodes in and you can watch them legally online on USA's website (Videos | Mr. Robot | USA Network). It's on every Wednesday.

The opening scene is available on youtube. It sets up the series pretty well.

We watched a bit of the pilot episode. Honestly, just didn't grab us. Gave up by the end of the first half hour.

Grandma's an avid devotee of Suits. I mean, there's just no accounting for one's taste.

It would be nice if they'd lower the "background" music so you could hear the dialog. That's a problem with most television programs now. So, this show did not do much for me and I've quit watching it.

No disrespect to you Lord Tyrion, as you are not responsible for this series, and I respect everyone's right to watch and enjoy what they like. But since you did post this, I feel I can say...
This snippet was about as interesting as watching paint dry. Another "there are people out there" series. Oh yay. Just what we need. A bunch of unanswered questions week after week couched in an "edgy" framework. No thanks.

I completely disagree. The "there are people out there" aspect is a small part of the show. Mr. Robot is one of the best directed TV shows and the premise is compelling. The question is whether what is happening is real or not. The way it's shot and the internal monologues made it a fun show to watch.

I have watched the first four episodes and it strays away from a formulaic pattern. I thought this show was going to be a week to week hacker takes on evil corporation show, but it's been more than that. Also, I don't think it's fair to judge a TV series based on one pilot or half a scene.

But that's the way movies and TV have done business for quite some time. Put out a trailer or teaser or pilot and see who bites. There is way too much to choose from these days and if the people from Mr. Robot chose this snippet as a sample to lure potential viewers, well it did not grab me.

Actually, they released the entire episode online before it premiered on USA. Whether or not it's good is subjective, but this show has generated a buzz online from critics and entertainment media sites. Five episodes in and I'm hooked.

After watching the first eight episodes, I can safely say this is easily one of the best shows on TV. I highly recommend this.

I loved it.

This USA Network show pushes the unreliable narrator to the nth degree and short of jumping out of the TV screen plays with the 4th wall in amazing ways. The titular character is named Eliott – a al ET and is played with bug-eyed confusion by Rami Malek. Some who come to this series late may find that a little disconcerting as he is the lead in the recent PS4 B slasher horror homage video game – Until Dawn.

The show has a distinctive shooting style that frames characters in off balance ways – ie shots where characters normally would be in the center of the screen are almost off the edge. It’s disorienting but does an amazing job of catching the main character’s state of mind. I’ll say little more to not ruin the discoveries this wonderful gem offers but it also does gorgeous location shots of buildings and architecture. You’ll understand as you watch. It reminds me of Hannibal in the way it establishes a unique visual style.

Much of the season is an internal journey until you go – in my best Keanu Reeves impersonation – WHOA!
