Wow, that is awesome. Question: Are the red books I see in the photos an encyclopedia set? I used to have a Junior set of encyclopedias when I was younger. I don't know what happened to them; I wish I still had them.

I didn't read through the whole thread, but someone mentioned owning "The Great Books." Let me say, that's pretty cool. I love going to the local library and flipping through those. Sometimes I'll read about philosophy, science, etc. I actually read a lot from Darwin's "On the Origin of Species," but this particular copy I think is from a different set of notable collected books, might be called something like Harvard Great Books? It
The red books are from the Stephen King Library book club. I'm not a member of it, just have been slowly picking up copies of them when I find them in used bookstores.

What are the dark navy blue volumes, two of them lying on their side bottom shelf in the...possibly only dark-stained shelf? That's quite a collection! Have you built the addition, yet? Knew a man who had to build an addition to his home just to hold a collection...of heads... :eep: He was a hunter...all these record-book mounts, all taken with a bow...even a turkey or two.

Hi Walter. I think the ones you're asking about are the Subterranean Press deluxe editions of The Shining. Actually, it's two of their traycases, one of which is empty. When the initial shipments of the limited edition went out, some of the recipients complained that their books were scuffed from the traycases. This edition did not come with a dustjacket, like the 'gift' edition did, so the book was exposed to the traycase. This wasn't the publishers fault, it was the printer who sentall the boks to Sub Press. Sub Press stepped up to the plate and offered everyone who ordered the limited edition a new traycase and even commissioned a brand new dustjacket (which is stunning!) and sent them to everyone. My copy of the traycase and book was fine when I received it and I emailed them and asked them not to send me a new traycae, but I guess Bill (the owner) mis-understood and went ahead and sent me one anyway. Don't know what I'm going to do with it tho. It's a pretty nice traycase but I have no use for it.

Okay...I thought they looked like this two-volume set of the OED I have...also have a supplemental...and I was looking at the gold printing pattern on mine, spinning around on the bar stool to look at your photo, spinning back...almost fell off my stool but fortunately gravity had been suspended for a time here. The pattern did not look exactly the same...plus you couldn't read it...which was why I was looking at the pattern to see if it matched. I did see one Koontz title, I thought...don't recall which one. I wonder if there exists anywhere in the world a collection of all things King, all the covers, foreign and domestic? I wonder how long the wall would be? That wouldn't be a book-snake....that'd be a book train. Do you have something that tells you what is collectible, or what is available? But talk about...whatever the word is...out-dated...the minute it is published.

There's one collector who's posted much of his collection on TheDarkTower.org, screen name carlosdetweiller. He has one of the foremost King collections in the world. Here's a link to his collection:

Yeah, impressive. Basement, too. I liked the paintings, as well...that one with the man with the house for a head is cool neato. I wonder who did all those? Various artists I imagine...I wonder if there is a book that might have them collected in it? ...I think that one painting is as I describe... I wonder if he had those bookcases made special or if there is a business that cranks them out?
