I agree-SK has always had an amazing ability to express the mystery/tragedy of "time."

When I didn't think of myself as a "leader" (because that is YOU!) and just tried to do my part to engage in "conversation"-the anxiety wasn't too bad.

I was just thinking the same thing! The only explanation was that was what the grandfather said in between counting seconds-maybe it is regional or familial. (??)

Cracked me up...reminded me perhaps someone dared Stephen King to write a story about 'My Pretty Pony'. There was also a gem in the back of the book.

When we were young, didn't it seem like the summer lasted forever? We could play with our friends and enjoy having two months off in the summer.

Now when I take a weeks vacation it just seems to go so fast. Back then it felt like days and days were stretching ahead of me, with not a care in the world!

I love the way Uncle Steve makes the characters so real. Grandpa with his flyaway hair. We know he feels the "shortness of time'. Perhaps him as a child too.

And maybe SK was referencing the "My Little Pony" toys, since he mentions the plastic nature of time in his Notes.

I do understand the concept but not why the name.

Maybe the story that SK scrapped explained the title a bit more.
