Anyone else participating in this year's NaNo? 50K words in 30 days...piece of cake! Well...maybe not.

I have been writing screenplays for several years, but this is my first attempt at writing a novel. So I feel like it is a very different animal. It is definitely inspiring and energizing though. So far I am keeping pace with 2000+ per day. Not necessarily great words, but I know the point isn't a perfect and final draft, just get the garbage out on paper. Hope I don't run out of steam before the month is over.

Cheers!

Have you done NaNo before? What kind of novel do you write?
2000 words a day sounds pretty good! :okay:

I did it two years in a row but last year and this year I decided to take a break. I still haven't edited those two manuscripts - feel like I should do that before starting to write novel no. 3.

I've done Nano a couple of times, around '09,'10. I find it actually hampers my ability to write, though. I spend far too much time on their forums, or browsing the status of other's projects. And if I see someone else who has an awesome title and blurb, I become discouraged and begin to wonder if my project is just too inadequate to continue. Stephen King's "write with the door closed" model was designed for someone like me.

I'm doing it. Currently almost 8,000 words in.

Congrats! Keep it up! I am at 11K as of tonight. Goal for tomorrow is at least 3K but hopefully more. I've gotten over the fear of quality and have stopped myself from self-editing. I figure if I can get to 50K before the month is over then I will go back from page one and start editing.
