"What do you think ?"

"I think you're all f**ked in the head."

My favourite quote from my third favourite movie. I love the Vacation series (well, love is probably a bit too strong for European and Vegas, but I'm fond of those as well), and the first is my favourite. The general consensus in some circles seems to be that Christmas is the best, which I'd disagree with. I mean, I love the movie, but it's very...tame...compared to the first two, which does bug me a little. That, plus it left out "Holiday Road" by Lindsey Buckingham. :(

In other news, they're making another sequel, following Rusty's attempts to get his family to Walley World, as it closes forever. I'll watch it, and Chevy Chase is set to have a small role, but I doubt it'll be as good as the originals.

Good talk.

I saw this movie with my sister when it was first released. There is a scene where the family is driving on the interstate in St. Louis and the father is showing the kids the arch and describing how tall it is and telling them that there is an elevator that goes all the way to the top. The kids ask if they can go in it and dad quickly says, "nope." My sister and I laughed hard when we saw that scene because we had the same experience in St. Louis with dad. When we were kids, our parents took us on these long vacations where we never had time to stop for things that weren't on the agenda. There are many scenes in this movie that remind me of those vacations (like staying with strange relatives I had never heard of ;-D) and that St. Louis scene was a funny deja vu moment for us.

A real classic in the best Lampoon style (i.e., stuff that you probably couldn't get away with today). Just the scene which has the line, "If I weren't in uniform, I'd split your skull with the butt of this revolver faster than you can say police brutality," would cause my dear animal-lovers friends' heads to spontaneously combust.
