National Smoke detector month

I had no idea the hard-wired smoke detectors needed to be replaced. Thanks for that! Now hopefully I remember this in 3 years when mine will need to be replaced if they're on the 10 year cycle.

My hard-wired ones with battery backup are 27 years old and still test fine.

I was electrocuted once. Grabbed a lamp with a short and the electricity went through my body and sparks shot out my big toe before I could drop the lamp. My wife made me go to the hospital (against my wishes) after reading on the internet it could have affected the rhythm of my heart. $100 emergency room copay wasted.

Would you believe that my uncle got electrocuted once, while I was helping him repair an old TV? Nothing as spectacular as DiO's flame shooting from the toe, but he received quite a shock.

Not much. We didn't finish the job that night. My uncle decided that we needed a safer activity, so we made brownies instead.

Yep! I was 13 and he was 15 when we fixed the TV......we've been through a lot since then.....

We still use this recipe for brownies.....
