Live in a suburb to Stockholm. The part where i live is a 8-plan-building. Most of them you know enough to recognise and say hi to, not more but the lady across the hall and her two kids are nice. I was invited to celebrate when the girl finished school. And in case of things like powerfailures we help with things like candles or flashlight. This is a very mixed neighborhood. many different cultures which is exciting. This saturday i was reading when suddenly a tremondous ruckus was heard from outside. Turned out to be a wedding party with a man leading the way plaing drums like a maniac while some others played some kind of flutes and after them came a beautiful young bride. They were going from the syric-orthodox church across the road to the house across my window. They really made a loud show of it, people stood in windows and on balconies everywhere and watched them. Wonder where they were from? Syria, Iran, iraq area is my guess but that covers a lot of ground.

I live in an apartment complex. It's really not that great for the price honestly, $850/month, one bedroom/one bath. The neighborhood in itself is really kind of trashy. I've never had any problems personally, but I do tire of seeing cops in front of my building 3-5 times per month.

Last week, or so I heard as I was at work at the time, my next door neighbor pulled his girlfriend into the middle of the street by the hair and started swinging on her until he was restrained by several people. The reason?? He hasn't had a job in over a year, doesn't even bother to look for one, and his Girlfriend who has been footing all the bills, took his lap top to a pawn store to help cover the bills. Apparently the police came and questioned everybody who was outside. They were still there when I got home at 11 pm.

That's just the most recent story. This place sucks. Luckily, I passed a credit check for a new place, a little bigger sq. Footage wise, Comes equipped with a Washer/Dryer and a screened in patio, $150 more a month but in a much nicer part of town. Apartment becomes available September 1st.

Side Note - This is my 150th post, I think that takes me off of Message board probation, right??:0:

Should but if the system doesn't catch up, let me know and I can do it manually. :smile2:

I live in a large fourth-floor loft on the dividing line between downtown and midtown. Our building has forty-two units of varying sizes. The tenants are educated professionals who range in age from their mid-twenties to mid-sixties or so. Everyone's friendly. We don't really hang out with them but make conversation in the elevator or in the lobby. Because all of us residents deliberately choose to 1. live in the city and 2. live in a loft, we start off sharing some common ground-- both mentally and physically. Even though we're not really close to our neighbors, we still feel a sense of community here.

In your mirror.
Hi.

Nice thread.

I have great neighbors. Well, kinda sorta.

I have a ton of neighbors who are home all day and notice EVERYTHING. On the one hand, they can give me a heads up if someone has been near our home and they didn't *recognize* those people/vehicles. Cool. On the other hand, if a new friend or family member comes to visit... I am *barraged* by questions (as subtly as possible).

It's a double edged sword.

Peace.

(If my neighbors didn't see me out and about for a couple of days, they would come looking for me. If I fart too loudly, everyone would know. Ha!)

My jaw just dropped when I saw the cost of your current place... is that rent (alone)/month? :icon_eek:
(I have a 3 brdm brick house on a 900sq metre property and currently pay $395/month on the mortgage.)

Rent prices are outrageous down here. My apartment is 718sq. The actual rent itself is $814, however, we are also required to carry renters insurance which adds another $20 to the tab. I just rounded up

When I moved in it was cheaper and the renters insurance thing wasn't required. They were the first ones who called me to tell me my application was accepted and I was in a hurry to get out of where I was.

Even though my neighbor’s a bit corny, my kids do like playing with their children. And their son Malachi seems to be a natural born leader. :blues:
