Neighbors? I generally dislike all of mine :( Most especially the cranky old lady who lives in the unit next to me. We do not get along.

Next on my "I wish you would go away forever" list is the family that lives in the unit at the end of the hall. They have like 8 people living in a 2 bedroom unit. Best part is they have a young daughter (about 6 or so) that they let run up and down the hallway in the morning and evenings. Nothing like being woken up at 7am by pounding footfalls and childish shrieks after playing a gig the night before and getting home at about 4am  They were also nice enough to leave a shopping carriage in the hallway outside of their unit the week they moved in. Very classy :facepalm_smiley:

Another pair of winners were the two college-aged girls who used to live down the hall. Their moronic boyfriends used to park in my deeded parking space all the time. Asked them nicely not to park there the first few times. Finally, I had their Romeo's pick-em up truck towed off the lot. That evening almost ended in a fist-fight.

My condo complex has gone down the tubes. When I bought my place it was about 85% owner occupied. Now it's down to about 35%. The renters don't care about the building or property and aren't very respectful of it :(

My neighbors are ok, I guess. We just moved into this house in December, so we don't really know em real well, but we've chatted with the guy a few times, and with the lady once. They seem alright. Their garage is not even like 100 feet away from our back porch, but thankfully it's between our house and their house, so blocks any unwanted views. There's no house on our other side, just woods, so no neighbors there, just critters, which is what I like. I grew up in a house with a half-mile long driveway, and 40 acres of woods on all sides, and that's about as close as I've always preferred my neighbors to be, but I'm slowly getting used to having em a little closer as the many years since I've lived in that house go by. Doesn't mean i have to like it though! xD

...after growing up on 8 acres outside town, this in-town living sucks, but was necessary at the time due to immediacy to schools and healthcare...the neighbors across the street have gotten better since the drug-dealing has gotten more subtle or ceased, and the cops have stopped swinging by-plus the juvenile court troops are not banging on the door...behind us, are a family we are nominally civil with, though I personally can't stand them...their son killed a young girl-due to texting while driving, and after "doing time" in a kiddie camp, they had the nerve to put up a huge banner in their yard welcoming him home-as if he'd been to war....I resisted the urge to set it on fire...so, no-I don't care for the people here-and the only reason I'm not out, is that I swore I would never move again , until I move to my folk's property after they reach their clearings....

One of the guys who use to live in my neighborhood for a brief time had done 27 years in prison for murder. At first I thought he was making it up, but I searched his name on line and sure enough, killed his girlfriend way back in the early 80's. He was covered head to toe in "White Power " Tattoos, although he claimed not to be a racist and that it was more of a jail house gang thing then anything (I always felt he said this to ease the tension in our neighborhood which is at least 50% black). I was civil enough with him when I had to be, his unit was right next to the Laundry mat and he was always outside so I'd make casual conversation. He even wound up giving me his dog when he moved to a place that didn't allow pets. But I know how you feel having to bite your tongue around a neighbor who should still be sitting in a cell.

We live on a road where the neighbors are nice. Friendly enough, but not in and out of each others houses all the time. We have the requisite curtain twitcher. New Years Eve anyone thats home comes out for a kiss and a Happy New Year. People do look after each other when necessary. Most people have lived here for a long time. I'm happy here.

The neighbors to the left are great. The neighbors to the right provide life lessons for my children, in the form of me calling them to the window every now and then, saying: See what they're doing? Don't EVER do that and you'll live a long, happy life.

Sometimes parenting is easy.

...and often, it takes an idiot to raise a village.

Overall my neighbours are okay. I know the ones from the back lane better than the ones from the front street. I have been here almost 13 years now and the cops are three doors down from my place, so I think that helps quite a bit.
Yes, it's nice to have the police close by. I live a block from Starbucks and I know if I ever need a cop, all I have to do is run down the street.
