Welcome to the Board! (That's not a book title but thought I should say that first. ;-D)

Do you have any special interest or genre that appeals to you? Stephen isn't just about horror so there are a lot of directions this could go in if you have a preference.

Moderator - might be opening a can of worms, but is there is list of SK books classified according to genre? Often though that might help a newcomer to chose a specific book to their liking.

Hello, I'm rather new here, but a fan for a long time. I started reading Stephen King's work ( in its original language) about 20 odd years ago and the first book was the short stories collection, 'Night shift'. I never forget 'Graveyard Shift', creepy and atmospheric. A real good introduction to the Master, with bags of atmosphere.

If you're a psychological horror fan, you could do worse than to start with something pretty dark, like the collection of novellas Full Dark No Stars. If you like your horror more visceral, then might I recommend Pet Sematary or Cell?
I almost recommended Pet Sematary but wondered, due to many members' response to it, whether that one would be the best starter idea.

Night Shift is an excellent recommendation!
