Hey, New England peeps....

My parents will visit a pal on Martha's Vineyard during the first week of October and are wanting to see fall foliage in Vermont and possibly New Hampshire either before or after their time in Massachusetts.

They are wondering (and so am I) if any of you know any B & Bs that are below the radar and don't cost a zillion a night in peak fall season. Any recommendations for foliage-viewing spots are also appreciated!

There's the Harness House in Springfield, VT which is right off I-91. I'm not sure of their prices, but there should be good foliage viewing. There are some scenic drives close by too... Weathersfield Center Road, and Skyline Dr. are a couple examples.

There are some inns in nearby Chester as well, but I'm not sure which ones are open. There is also a Vermont Country Store just down the road from Chester in Rockingham, VT.

They'll also need to remember that by that time the farther north they go the more likely the trees will already have reached peak or be past it.
