...may we never reach it, and screw it up as we have done to our own...

Well . . . I suppose in an essentially infinite universe, we were bound to stumble across something like this sooner or later, but as for our own little nest, I wouldn't be too worried if I were you, Giant. When good ol' Mother Earth has had enough of our shenanigans she'll simply sneeze us off and in a comparatively short time it will be as if we were never here.

Light speed travel doesn't mean that your physical shell doesn't age. Relatively, everything proceeds normally in your own closed system.

We either need manageable wormholes, FTL travel (theoretically possible since Black Holes Ain't So Black), or some super duper POW! cryogenic stasis stuff.

Maybe a hefty dose of Melange.

I don't want to take bizness away from the GNT........

Done! As long as you don't sample too many of the drinks you make we should turn a profit. :biggrin-new:
...good idea..don't be takin' no bidness away from me!...

Talking of travelling faster than the Speed of Light, I've always been intrigued by the notion that if a Spacecraft travels faster than light it will surely out pace it's own image, because that image will surely still only be travelling at light speed?
If so, if that Spacecraft then reversed it's course, would the "passengers" see that image of themselves coming toward them?:umm:

Without Googling or Wiki'ing it, here's my understanding for the last 40 or 50 years.

As you go faster, your relative time slows down and your inertia builds. (There are other interesting things, but let's focus on those.) So as you get to 99.9% and up to the speed of light, time has slowed down to near stoppage. You're aging, but hardly at all. However, your inertia is zooming up to infinity, and it therefore takes zooming-to-infinity energy to keep you going. So that's a couple reasons we can't hit or go past the speed of light. There's not enough energy to make it happen.

But if you were to find a wormhole (assuming it exists with those properties) or create a "warp drive" which warps physical space around you so you're not bound by the rules (assuming such a thing were possible) and you go to your destination in net faster-than-light time, yes, I presume that you would see your own image coming your way until it got through the lightspeed barrier.
