Hi all,

I just joined but have been reading for a long time. Its been a while since I read Tommyknockers but I enjoyed it a lot. I don't expect folks to be able to speak to the first question but perhaps someone knows about the second.

Tommyknockers felt like a jab against nuclear power. Or perhaps it was a jab at the presumptuous use of technology in the hands of clever monkeys like us. I am curious about SK's position on nuclear power today (assuming he reads these posts from time to time). Additionally, will we see those
creepy ghost aliens appear again someday?

The novel was written during the height of King's experiences with his own addictions and is filled with metaphors for the stranglehold of substance abuse. In an interview with Rolling Stone, King acknowledged that the quality of his writing suffered during his period of drug use, saying, "The Tommyknockers is an awful book. That was the last one I wrote before I cleaned up my act'"

Other themes in the book include the dangers of nuclear power and radioactive fallout, as evidenced by the physical transformations of the townspeople which resemble the effects of radiation exposure, of unchecked technological advancement, and of the corrupting influence of power.
