I almost gave up on this thing. It took me forever to find the Newbies start here forum.

I have been a long time fan of Stephen King without being aware of it. When I was a kid maybe 8 my 3 older brothers always watched scary movies. When my mom was at work I would watch those movies with them. I had haunted dreams of Children of the corn, IT and The Shinning. Then later when I was around 11 My brother brought home books from high school called Lord of the flies and Hearts in Atlantis. I read lord of the flies over and over trying to figure things out. It just popped some door open in my little mind that made me question things. Then I read Hearts in Atlantis and it was like it forced a mental growth spurt. I always loved to read when I was young but eventually this thing called technology took over and the only thing I read were Posts and Friends requests. Then one day in my twenties my cable TV went out and I was forced to read a book. I picked out a book at random from a used book store. That book was called IT. Then several chapters into it I realized this clown was none other then the monster that haunted my childhood. Pennywise the monster that got all of my brothers in trouble when I told my mom I refused to sleep in my room because I was sure the clown monster would get me when everyone else was a sleep. Then I find out this same author wrote several other books that I either saw the movies of as a child or read. I am horridly delighted to relive those childhood terrors as an adult. I found myself jumping at nothing when I would go outside after dark or hear a weird noise while in the middle of reading a Stephen King book. Or getting all choked up while reading something heartbreaking and having my concentration broken by my boyfriend asking "why are your eyes all red are you crying or something?", No my eyes are just watering a little bit I have been reading to long.

BAM fan for life!
