Impossible to choose one. This is my absolute favorite collection of Mr. King's short stories. Top five, maybe? In no particular order:
1) The Last Rung on the Ladder
2) The Boogeyman
3) Quitters, Inc.
4) One For The Road
5) Strawberry Spring

Oh man, another great survey Doc. I had a heck of a time picking between CotC and One for the Road, but ended up choosing the former. Still, every time I think about the ending of OftR, it gives me chills, and not the good kind.

Those are great choices. My struggle was choosing straight horror or the other ones. I think I'd pick 'Trucks' and 'Graveyard Shift'. Every single story conclusion in this collection packs a wallop. I liked 'One For The Road', too. If you get the chance listen to the audio version.

Are you nuts? HELL NO I'm not listening to the audio version! Did you not read how scary I think the ending is? ;-D

I added Trucks simply because it was the inspiration for Maximum Overdrive, the second most unintentionally hilarious Stephen King Adaptation of all time!
