I usually am asleep too GNT so I don't see him much anymore either. When I am up he is on, not Leno or the new guy for me. He is my favorite right after Mr. Carson and I had always hoped that he would have filled JC's chair. He certainly has earned his retirement.
..I think he got hosed on the Tonight Show gig...nothing against Jay, but Dave earned it...

I'm not sure how I feel about this. Love The Colbert Report but never stay up for the late shows so unless they do a repeat (that's how I watch TCR), that means I won't be seeing Stephen Colbert anymore unless I watch it on the computer. That's the part that makes me unhappy. Was never much of a Letterman fan so not a big loss as far as I'm concerned.

I thought it would be Craig Ferguson. Did he pass on it or was he not really in the running? I read he would be getting an extra $5 million payday if he was passed over. Not sure if that holds true if he was offered it and didn't take it.

Anyway, he was my pick. I love him!

The few times I've seen him I liked him too CAT. I wonder too if he turned it down or wasn't even asked?
