We're all fans of our very own King Kons, but there are a lot more of them out there. I sometimes sell artwork and Tabi at anime conventions like Louisianime here in Baton Rouge. Or at Mechacon in New Orleans.

What I'm most excited about is this one.

Complete with photo ops and autograph sessions.

God, I'd love to meet Tim Curry!!! You're so lucky! Never been to a Comic Con but I did get to attend the World Fantasy Con when it was in Seattle back in 1989. Met lots of great writers there (Robert McCammon, Peter Straub, Joe Lansdale, Charles Grant, etc.) and even got to meet our very own goathunter!!! It was a great time and I really enjoyed it.

My daughter does cosplay so she goes to a few cons every year. This year she is going to be on a panel at the Evergreen ComicCon in Seattle.

I did a few when I was younger. The last time was SakuraCon with my daughter about 8 years ago. Unless I can put on a bald wig and a suit, my choices of cosplay are pretty limited now ;)

Have fun y'all!

Other than this last intimate King Kon, which I thoroughly enjoyed, my genre convention attendances have been limited to one (1), but I did enjoy it.

My youngest son at the time was interested in going to the Denver StarCon. This was in the years when Star Trek Voyager, DS9, and Babylon 5 were all vying for the scifi crowd, and the Star Trek stuff was nice, but my son was a fan of Buffy, we all liked Sliders, and Alyson Hanigan, Jerry O'Connell, Kate Mulligan, and others were going to be there. So I bought into it (literally), and we had a father-son trip down to check it out.

Well.

My daughter (his sister) had really wanted a signed autograph of Jerry O'Connell, and her faithful brother stood in a loooong line to get it. That was impressive. I also remember seeing Mr. O'Connell signing photographs, smiling, interacting, and then looking at the 8,000 mile line, and you could see the "JFC" realization spread across his face, just momentarily, but I saw it, and I could only l think, "Good on you, Jerry," because he was a trooper and got through it all.

I didn't see the line for Ms. Hanigan, but I know my son came away with an autographed picture of her. So good on her too.

We went to the sneak preview of "Independence Day" aka ID4, and Emmerich and Goldblum were both there, and it was really cool. I really did like Jeff Goldblum. He didn't want the celebrity wall. He wanted to interact with the audience, and he did so in an endearing fashion. It was cool.

Kate Mulligan came on, and she was just so charming. Huge roars from the audience, 50 million flashes going on, and she was beyond gracious. "How WONDERFUL! How DAUNTING!!" She presented and answered with grace and aplomb, and anyone who left that room without crushing on her was a damn robot.

So, after all that, with all the made-up people stalking through the passageways, the unabashed starstruck wanderers all over, the hawking of goods in the vendor area, and all of that....

It was fun. I described it as "goofy fun," and I stand by that description. I'm glad I went. I don't plan on doing so again.

Well.... if I could get an audience with Patrick Stewart. Then I'd go. But still, it was an experience that was good to have.

Don't say that. There's never any limit on you. Cosplay is limited only by your imagination.

Mulligan or Mulgrew? I loved Voyager.

There are also Renaissance festivals. I love those things!

Never? Doggone, Bigun, we need to make us a couple of costumes (I'm thinking Rom, the Space Knight for you, maybe Nightcrawler for me) and go crash us the Wizard World con up in ChiTown one day. Bring plenty of disposable cash, though; once the scent of aged newsprint hits yer nostrils yer gonna lose it.

First off I can't wait for King Kon next year! My first, and really excited to meet everyone that makes it.
To the topic at hand...oh yes! I go to two or three horror conventions a year(no cosplay for me though) I am a proud horror nerd. My usual go to is Monster Mania in Cherry Hill, NJ in March and August. Rock and Shock in Worcester, MA in Oct. Been to Texas Frightmare a couple of times in Dallas, Spooky Empire in Orlando, Scarefest in Lexington, KY, a couple of other smaller ones over the years. I have met some great people some of which have become dear friends.
I am envious of Tim Curry! He is one I would love to meet.
