I'm a jr. high English teacher with a love for Stephen King's work. I did not start at a young age being a King fan. Although I hate to admit it now, I saw it as a bandwagon thing. I know most people (not most. Probably just the kids I teach make me see it this way-) love Mr. King because of his movies. Which is funny to me because I was always afraid of the film version of my favorite book. I actually read IT first. I read it last year as I was getting ready to graduate college. I should've been studying for my finals, but my best friend and soon to be sister-in-law had IT in her room, and I saw it just as we were heading to the library to study and drink copious amounts of black coffee to get us through the all-nighter we were going to pull. I decided to run up to the stacks and see if they had IT. Happily enough, they did! I could. Not. Put. It (IT,no pun intended). Down.
I still can't. It's one of my favorite (if not my absolute favorite) King works. Christine runs second in my heart. I would have to say that one is my favorite film. I know that if IT was done right, it would be an amazing movie. The movie just glosses over all the wonderful thrills of the book. Damn those time constraints. I know that you will probably never read this Mr. King, but know that I loved this book so much, I returned the library copy and bought it that same day. I won't lie, either- I have 4 copies of it now. I have read it 4 times since last May and IT never gets old. EVER. I absolutely adore this book; though it might be a little much for their age group, I have encouraged every one of my kids to read IT. Apparently, they've heeded my (amazing, duh) advice, because my favorite copy (a paperback, the one with the drain and boat on the cover) went missing from my desk during a passing period of four minutes, and I haven't seen it since... I won't pretend I'm not upset about it still, even with 3 other copies...
I was hoping that you would have an email listed, even though I KNEW you wouldn't read every one (how could you!? There'd be millions). I hoped you had one listed and I, like every other person on this site could tell you how wonderful your story telling abilities really are, even though you must already know! What's one more? I'll tell you: I am one more, another number, another fan, that absolutely adores your literary prowess. I am a King bandwagoner, and I am damn proud of it.
