My main quirk (for lack of a better word) is that I can't read more than one book at a time. My mom can, my daughter can, but for some reason, it's very difficult for me to follow more than one story simultaneously.
I'm also like that with TV series. I rarely watch TV but when I do its hard for me to watch more than one series per season, especially if there's a week between episodes.
Does anyone else do this?
Or have other strange reading quirks?

I can't or choose not to read more than one book or story at a time. The fact that others can and possible even prefer to apparently speaks to fundamental differences between humans and my appreciation of science which seeks to understand us.

Hey, I think I'll have to add more tinfoil to my hat. I was thinking of this very topic last night.
For me, it is impossible to read any fiction before 10 pm. Except in summertime, if there's sunshine in the balcony(in my current apartment only in the morning).

Most of the time, I have two books going, but one is fiction and the other nonfiction. No stories to mix up, and when I need a break from a made-up story, then I have the factual reading to go to. I didn't think I'd ever like reading two at once, but this works for me.

I have a quirk about the books I buy. I must write my name and the date I bought/received it on the first page.

Also, for the past fifteen years, when I finish a book, I write down its title and the date I finished. It's a long list now! I like going back and seeing how long it's been since I read a particular book, or sometimes, I'll forget a title and the list helps me remember. Looking back, I wish I'd kept a list of the books I read when I started "really" reading--like chapter books, etc. It would be fun to look back and see the books I read in elementary, middle and high school.

I *always* have more than one going at a time. But both are always fiction, though usually of wildly different genres. I have two (at least) going at a time because I'm a big fan of audiobooks. And I have a lengthy commute during the school year. So I've usually got a car book, a paper (or Kindle) pleasure book, and a "work" book (whatever novel we're studying in my class).

I have a copy of the Stand (no jacket) that a person wrote their name and date in. From 1983. I googled the persons name but didnt get any good results :(
Listing sounds cool Danie :)

I keep a book by the bed, another book for the patio, and a book I read during the daily bus commute. So usually I have three on the go at any given time. The exception to the rule is a Stephen King new release, I carry it around to bed, the patio, and the commute and it is always done way too quickly (even though I promise myself I'll chew slowly this time).

I have at least a couple books going.

I have also kept a book journal for 17 years now. And like Danie, I wish I would have started much much sooner. My list would ahve been very impressive. This year, though, I have not done very well.

I divide my journal up by years, and then I put next to the book and author if it was a kindle, audio or actual book.

I also can't concentrate well enough to listen to audiobooks. I need to read the words, whether a bound book or e-reader, I have to see the words to get fully involved in the story.
I've listened to two audio books, and both were nonfiction.
I tried fiction, but for some reason, I get tickled and start laughing. Definitely cannot get into the story at all.
I can't imagine listening to someone read a romantic/sexual scene without

Whatever book I'm reading I carry everywhere I go. Like a teenage girl with her phone, my book is glued to me.

I like reading more than one book at a time, but I don't always do it. Usually, there's a book in the truck, a book in the living room, and a book in the bedroom. The living room book is my "main" reader, the others just there in case I have unexpected time. (it's hard to find time to read with a small child in the house)

I'm a fast reader. I have a tendency to swallow books whole in my eagerness to find out "who done it".

I rarely ever read non fiction.

I will read the same book over and over and over again, and am hesitant about new authors. So, even though I'm a voracious reader, my library is pretty small, (a large library means you have one or two walls covered in books. I have two small bookshelves.) and heavily dominated by the King.

I absolutely, utterly refuse to own an audio or e-book. If it isn't a real book that I can go to the beach with, go camping with, or climb a tree with, then I'm not interested. And I'm the one laughing my buttsky off when the power goes out and everyone else is bored.

If a book really gets my attention, you could be sitting right next to me and I wouldn't hear a word you said. I usually have music playing while I read, and I'll look up and realize that I don't have a clue what songs have been playing for the last two hours.

I've been reading since I was two and a half. So I've become a bit of a bibliophile over the years, and it's true that if I walk into someone's house and don't see any books, I immediately lose interest in talking to them....

And I'm a book snob. I don't care what the subject matter is, I'll read about baseball if the story is well written and makes me forget about the real world for a while. But if the author writes like Kristen Stewart acts, I toss the book over my shoulder and walk away.

If I walk into a home and there are no books, it makes me sad.

I was going to reply but you have said all that I wanted to. Thankee.
But, I do enjoy non fiction books as well. Mostly trashy non-authorized biographies.
