Noticed in the last few years, maybe longer, that I've really sought out my parents to hang out with. I've always had a great relationship with them, but since mom and dad are in their mid-70s now, I have a strong desire to just... be with them more. Hang out. Share stories. Our thing seems to be going to country music concerts, just the three of us, or just enjoying a conversation at the dinner table. I think of them lots. They're pretty damn cool... for old folks. :wink-new:
Anyway, just felt the need to share. Thanks for reading.

My father is gone and mom has dementia. Enjoy your time Shoe. You will never get it back.
My situation was the opposite staro. Mom died suddenly and then Dad was left alone with severe dementia. I watched him very slowly die of Alzheimer's disease. It was a stressful time for everyone.
So yeah, enjoy your time with your parents while you are lucky enough to have them around Shoesalesman - good for you!

It feels weird "liking" all those sad things up there - what I mean is: I hear ya, honeys. @Shoesalesman - that is precious and just as it should be - enjoy them and take care of them when they need it. I'm hoping my mom will like me some day - something about me just pi$$es her off - my dad died eons ago when I still a rebellious teenager. My inlaws think I pretty special though, and I love spending time with them.

That's just beautiful man and I'm damn proud of you. Continue to enjoy them, OK?

. . .you do know that they may be a little tired of seeing you all the time, right?

I'm just teasing you.

LOL - Yeah, I get tired of my kids hanging on me all the dang time. I'm sure it'll be the same when I'm elderly. You know they're just wanting him to go away so they can get to bed early!
