Well, crappys... I ordered a coffee table.. cherry.. It came in damaged and in birch.
Now I can not do anything about it.. after many phone calls. They want a picture,,, original package..
(puppy tore up original packing)

I am stuck with it.... without a bunch of troubles that is. It is pretty, but not what I ordered.
Cherry, dammit.

Anyone else have trouble with online ordering?

I've had pretty good luck, I must say. The other day I ordered some mealworms for the bluebirds. For some reason (I'd have to revisit the site to check) I thought they advertised free s/h, which was one of the reasons I chose to do business there, especially comparing prices. I even had a confirmation receipt showing a total without s/h added. But I checked my credit card account online and they'd added s/h. So I emailed them asking to explain themselves. I got no response, but when the mealworms arrived they were alive not roasted, which means a greater value. I dunno if this was a second oversight on their part or not. This kind of bad business practice is unusual online in my experience.

Oh yummy - live meal worms :Z: xD - when we used to have an African pygmy hedgehog apparently that was their favourite treat but I never did order any for them!

Alive is great because now you will have your own renewable food-source. (We had lizards/skinks)
(I did struggle with the whole food chain thing though. But you knew that, right? )

Freight damage is one of the big downsides to ordering anything online. Once a package leaves the warehouse, it's not the selling company's responsibility anymore, it's the freight company's responsibility. And take it from someone who has filed many freight claims at my office over the years, you will rarely be satisfied with the outcome of a freight claim. At my business, I've filed so many claims that I know what needs to be done but for an individual that just gets a shipment once in a while at home, it's really hell.

Here is what you have to do to have any kind of chance at a freight claim:

*First thing when you get a shipment, check it over and if there looks to be any damage, do not let the driver leave until you've opened the package and noted on the bill of lading what the damage appears to be.

*Save all the packing material and take pictures of any damage

*Call the company that you bought the product from, tell them about the damage and they may be able to help with the damage claim if it's a shipper they use a lot.

*Call the freight company (or go on their website) and fill out their damage claim form. Fill it out completely because blank spaces only give them an excuse to deny or delay.

*After that, start going to church and pray for your claim;-D

Order a great deal on line. Rural, so often some items are easier to order them drive to the store. Have had issues with wrong product, dry cat food. Company issued a free bag coupon and did not require return of the wrong item ( donated to local rescue ).
you have to watch free shipping/ always ck your credit card statement and if you printed the original order form and it said free ship/ complain to credit card company. They should take it off.

No, I was not aware of that struggle for you. Explain your struggle.
I've never liked the food chain, understand it-yes, am part of it-yes... but little bits of me die inside every time I have to witness it in process.

I didn't like growing them for the purpose of feeding them to another... and I hated actually putting them in with the lizards.

Can you get a refund thru your credit card company? Some CC companies (like American Express) will refund the purchase. Check with them as it sounds like you're not going to get anywhere with the company you bought from. I've had a few issues over the years myself with damaged merchandise and even mis-delivered packages (d*mn USPS!!!) that haven't been taken care of to my satisfaction. Good luck with this one.

I order Avon (yes Ding Dong, Avon calling) and it is usually sent in a cardboard box. Just recently a jar of cream was sent to me in the regular mail. Well the cardboard is all mangled looking. I hate to give this to a customer for 12.99. The cream itself is still usable of course. I think I will give it to her in the original bubble wrap package to explain how the cardboard got damaged. (and throw in some extra lipstick samples!) :smooch:
