Just a question. If someone is in an altered state of consciousness, whether being deep in meditation, or near death in the ER, or in a dream, or doing psilocybin mushies, how can you tell whether they've had an actual out-of-body experience or had a dream vision of what they perceive to be the point of view outside of their body?

...from a nursing viewpoint, you can only take it subjectively, what the person is telling you...I know of no equipment or monitor that would allow one to objectively detect or view such an event...all you could possibly do from an objective standpoint would be to use an EEG machine to monitor brainwave activity, there is some data available on level of consciousness studies...

It was not like any dream I ever had. And the doctor and nurse working on me were saying very scary things like "we lost her" "let's get her back again". It was scary....so I left. Honestly, it was a conscious decision, this is scary. I don't want to be here. I will leave.

When I was told to return, I got lost (never good at directions) and I could again hear the nurse and doctor but I could not find them. Then I heard my husband who had arrived at the hospital and walked into the room. His voice made me laugh. "what the f*** are you doing to my wife" and I was able to follow his voice. Then the doctor said "here she is. This time let's keep her".

I don't actually care whether people believe it or not. If it's easier for an individual to believe I had a dream that's their right.

AM, I believe you.

Riot, I believe you.

The world is a big and beautiful place, we don't know everything, images-195.jpeg Yes, many things are possible.

Pops, does it matter if a dream creates a reality or a reality creates a dream? This illusion we live is all a big circle, life, death, energy, time...the method used to 'plug into it' doesn't matter but indicates whether or not we will remember. Regardless, we are loved.

AnnaMarie, I'm afraid you took my question as a challenge to your integrity, and that certainly was not my intent. It was a musing type of comment, an open-ended question. I do believe that just about anything is possible, and I don't rule out just about anything offhand.

I am sorry if you took offense. I believe you're truthful, and your account truly is interesting and thought-provoking.

In answer to the question, yes, I've had out-of-body perceptions. Not when I got hit with the defib a couple times, but during a dream state. On awakening, I asked myself the same question I asked in my last post, and I couldn't answer it, and I do get very vivid, detailed, sometimes realistic, sometimes weird dreams, so I chalked it up to one of those.

I seem to be offending all over the board. must be me.

I did not take offence by your post AT ALL.

Gotta run (which might be why I 'm not being clear anywhere).

I did have to run, so now the longer answer Grandpa. I have spoken to people who do not believe in any kind of out of body experiences, and while they are not calling me a liar (they believe I believe what I say) they absolutely do not believe it ever happens to anyone. And that's fine. I have no need to convince those people of anything. I take offence only when someone who does not believe has some weird need to convince me that I am wrong. ( I did not read that warped challenge in your post.)

Do you guys believe they can really happen? You guys might think i am crazy for saying this but i think i've had one before while meditating. Lol havent told anyone except my man and my sister about it though because i don't want to be laughed at. :matrix:
What did you feel in that moment?

Few times in my dreams I was out of my body. One time it was very unusual feeling. In dream through song I heard words "Nachash (in Hebrew it means divine snake), Nachash you are my heart and soul". I saw the word "Nachash" in front of my closed eyes. And suddenly I understood that this word is my entity. I began to shake. (I felt it really.) My chest curved up and I left my body. (Of course, it was very very strange thing because always I have thought I am a fluffy little kitten. :cat:)
