Finally watched episode 1 last night. It was great!

The battle scenes were brutal, especially Jamie and Jack Randall's confrontation. Watching Jamie be at death's door was hard, his wheezing really got to me.

Liked the scenes in the present, too. I somehow have less sympathy for Frank than his evil counterpart. Makes no sense but I highly prefer Tobias Menzies as Jack. Frank is capable of being a jerk, too. (To put it nicely.) And I think maybe that is why...we know Jack is bad. When Frank is cruel, I have a hard time forgiving him for it. Chalk it up to amazing performances by Menzies!

The ending was sweet and touching, though. But that nurse! She got in a zinger!

I was a little surprised that they were going into this part of the back-story rather than starting up with Claire going back again but am enjoying it.

I feel the same way about Frank but wasn't sure if I was being influenced by his behavior in the books
(cheating on Claire)
. I could have just smacked that professor(?) for how he was demeaning Claire. I know it was typical for the time period, but still.

Oh yes, the professor AND the Doctor at the birth! You could see the steam rolling out of Claire's ears! ;-D Rightly so. :glare:

Aren't you Scottish? How have you not read this?

I no longer have STARZ!
However, I did just read the latest book, and at first I was disappointed because it's not the next book in the series, but a compilation of stories within the Outlander universe.
However, I dove in head first and came out the other side feeling satisfied. It's worth the read.

I'm almost glad I'll be missing the next 3 episodes until I get home from the book tour. This season really lends itself to binge watching for me as I'm anxiously waiting for
Claire and Jamie to finally be reunited so having to wait the week in between and it STILL hasn't happened has been a challenge. Not that I'm not enjoying it, as I am, but want to fast forward to the reunion.
