What's your favorite? Six Flags? Sea World? Universal? Disney? Cedar Point?

That last might not be well known to all Tet-Mates, but those from and around Ohio do. I spent most of my youth in Ohio, so summer trips to Sandusky were fairly routine. Cedar Point boasts the reputation for being the roller-coaster capital of the world, whether it really is or not. For a long time, it had the tallest roller coaster, and it was the first to have a Corkscrew. I was there that day. Yes, I'm old. People waited in line for HOURS before it was announced that there had been a mechanical "issue" but that it was now fixed. Honest. Most of the people ahead of us in line left, hearing that. We, being the foolhardy folk that we are, went ahead and rode it.

From the sky-lift that spans the length of the park to the funnel cakes and Breakers Hotel, Cedar Point will forever be a sentimental favorite of mine. But the scariest ride you'll catch me on these days is the carousel.

Disneyland. I love that place. It's a respite for me, a recharge, a reset. A couple of months after my mother died, Hubby took me because he understands. When Walt decided to put a berm around the Park, he found a way to contain the magic inside it. I feel it every time I go and it refreshes my soul. It's also a lot of fun!

First off, I am or will be okay. I had a terrible accident today, but I am doing better now. I decided to go horseback riding, which I haven't done in a while because of the weather has been so cool. Well, I got on the horse and started out slow, and then we went a little faster, and then we were going as fast as the horse could go. All of a sudden I fell off and caught my foot in the stirrup and the horse was dragging me around in a circle. It wouldn't stop, it just kept going around and around. Thank goodness the store manager at K-Mart came out and unplugged the carousel.

Well, from the land of theme parks, perhaps I can give you some good insight...

I've been to:
Six Flags over Texas
Six Flags over Mid America (St. Louis)
Sic Flags over Georgia (Atlanta)
Worlds of Fun Kansas City
Disneyland
Knott's Berry Farm
Busch Gardens Tampa
Busch Gardens Williamsburg
Sea World San Diego
Sea World San Antonio
Sea World Orlando
Cypress Gardens
Legoland
Universal Studio Orlando
Universal Studios Islands of Adventure
Disney World Magic Kingdom
Disney World Epcot
Disney World Animal Kingdom
Disney World MGM Studios (Now Hollywood Studios)
Plus a ton of water parks and smaller regional theme parks

Of all of these, Universal Orlando is by far my favorite. We have year round passports to Busch Gardens, which also gets us into Sea World twice a year for free. I love BG too. But Universal is a great set of parks. The rides are awesome. It's just a fun place to go. Disney is too, but it's so crowded that you have to plan your day at least a month in advance now. And I mean what ride at what times and such... 5 minutes to walk here, eat at exactly this time. Just not fun anymore.

Lots of class trips:
Disney World when it first opened/ graduations/ weddings- boy, has it changed. Like Hoss said you need a computer readout plan of what to see and when. Avoiding and now way out of budget.

Busch Gardens Tampa- first one to see in Fl way back in the early 1960's. Still enjoy
Weeki Wachee Springs
Homosassa Springs- kids loved Lucifer the Hippo
Sea World Orlando-- education trips with class
Universal Studios- good way to skip continuing ed classes.
Safari Jungle- West Palm Beach
National Parks in upstate NY

I've been to Disney World, Epcot, Universal, Sea World, etc (FL) Great Adventure and Clementon (NJ). Hershey Park, Sesame Place, Dorney Park (PA).

But my all-time favorite is Knoebels in Elysburg, PA. We try to visit several times a year. Every ride you can imagine, but free admission (free parking too). You can get an all day pass or tickets to pay per ride (the tickets never expire) at reasonable rates.
Weekends do tend to be crowded, but if you go on a weekday, the lines move pretty fast.
They have passes for special needs individuals that allow them to move ahead in line faster (we haven't used that yet, but if we go this year we may have to).

Very friendly staff, good food. Even pets are allowed in the park.

$1000 per person, hoss?
LOL, no total for the 8 tix. But in the next few years, that might be possible with Disney.

I went to Epcot about a week after it opened back in the early 80's. It was $12.50 to get in. Magic Kingdom was $19.50 then. You could get a two park pass for $27.50. I remember thinking that was very expensive.
