Don't know if the story about Mr. Macnee is true or not, but did a lot of people here watch The Avengers TV show? I was my favorite show for awhile, and watching it in the late 60’s and early 70’s (mostly in reruns). I think most people liked Diana Rigg as Mrs Peel, but I favored Linda Thorson as Tara King. It was definitely a more bizarre and stylized show with Thorson.

I was interested in all of the spy TV series which spun off the Bond craze. I wasn't a huge fan of some of them, but I did like The Avengers despite the difference in cultural style. Mrs Peel was almost too sexy to tolerate, btw. My favorites by far were The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and then The Wild Wild West which came like the following season. An unsung favorite was Blue Light starring Robert Goulet, and we can't forget Honey West.

Love that show. My favorite is Diana Rigg, but I also liked Honor Blackman (Pussy Galore in Goldfinger). I believe Joanna Lumley (1/2 of Ab Fab) also did a stint on the show.

What did you think of the movie with Uma Thurman and Ralphe Fiennes, DiO'Bolic?

I actually haven’t seen The Avengers remake. I’m not a fan of great movie or TV show remakes. I only ever watch them if there is nothing else on that I’m interested in (and it hasn't happened yet with that movie). This actually happened over the weekend, and I watched the remake of Carrie on Netflix. As expected, I was very disappointed. IMO there was no passion developed for me in the characters, as there was in the original movie.

The movie is lacking in many departments, but does capture the feel of the show at points. Uma and Ralphe do the best with what they are dealt.
