At the hospital we have paid parking, I was running late to get back to my town to pick up school kids and there were two people in front of me. The person using the machine had just had his money card fail on him making the machine hold onto his 'parking release' card.
I pulled out some cash and gave it to him so he could retrieve his card and be allowed to leave the hospital, he said he would run to his car to bring me some money, I just told him nah--pay it forward to someone who needs help sometime.
I'm always reminded of that movie... broke my heart it did.
Also, I really enjoy being able to make the world just a little bit better, even if only for a moment for one other person.
I do a LOT of random acts of kindness, because I've had a couple of big ones done for me, and I still feel like I owe the universe something.

I've been trying to be a better human being, and over the past few years, I've had some amazing teachers.
morgan -- did something similar- a gift card to a local sandwich/coffee house. I am rural, so my postal man does so much for me- Mails packages, brings me stamps, even puts up with my slow walk to the gate to sign for packages. He deserves more than I can give.*Bump*
I bought a B&N gift card for the guy at the post office substation who is always kind and helpful no matter how busy he is.
Every small act of kindness is important.
Write them a note. Let them know.Been thinking about the importance of kindness a lot lately (even more than usual). Because of the holiday, I remembered something nice that was done for me this time of year, many years ago. My mother was a single mom, we lived in low-income housing and were on every available assistance. One of the girls I went to middle school with had an affluent family (wealthier than anyone else I knew, anyway). Her mother took us shopping and bought me an Easter dress. I don't think I ever had a new Easter dress before.
Can't remember feeling prettier than I did in that new pink dress. I hope that family is still blessed with wealth and love. Wish I could say thank you once again and tell them I still remember...
I only remember the daughter's first name. We moved a lot - I attended thirteen schools by the time I was in sixth grade. Their family moved as well. Maybe one day I'll wake up in the middle of the night and remember the last name.Write them a note. Let them know.
No one in your family can help you with more information? I would love for you to be able to write them. They would be so tickled.I only remember the daughter's first name. Wow - we moved a lot too! But it was due to my Dad - he would buy houses, then rent them out (we often had "roomers" on the other floors).I only remember the daughter's first name. Good catch. Will do that as soon as I can find the other one.We have this thread too, combine with R.A.K.?
