Up until I was maybe 10(?) my Christmas gift to my mom was Evening in Paris. I don't remember if she ever actually wore it. I think I chose it because I thought the blue bottle was pretty. Later learned that Chanel No. 5 was what she really liked to wear but was out of my price range until I was much older and working.

These days I don't wear perfume as often because of all the places that ask you not to because of fragrance sensitivities. When I do, it's Hermes Eau des Merveilles which my daughter bought me, keeping up the family tradition. :smile2:

That is a nice tradition - did you think of buying some perfume when you went to Paris with the Big Guy that time?

Thought about it but didn't make the time and at that time I was in between fragrances so didn't want to test out different ones until I found the right one. Steve and Tabby had brought me back a Hermes perfume when they'd been to Paris many years ago. I'd put it in a pretty perfume bottle I had but had never used before so didn't know there was a leak and about 2/3 of the bottle leaked out before I discovered it. Unfortunately when the rest was gone I didn't write down the name before tossing the bottle figuring I'd never get a replacement because of the cost. Was kicking myself I hadn't done that as it probably would have been cheaper there. My daughter chose this fragrance because she thought it smelled like the one I'd had.

Your local Sephora store should have samples you could try in hopes of finding the one that leaked. At one time the company offered free samples upon request.

We have one now but it's only been there a couple years. The Sephora near where she lives in MA is where my daughter bought this one, though. I'll have to check ours out to see if they've got the other one--assuming I can remember it. It was back in the '90s that I got the first one.

This might help limit the scents that were available then.

Thank you! Think I'll start with Parfum d'Hermes if they still make it. That sounds the most familiar but it could actually be the Eau des Merveilles--you know memory, age, some-timers syndrome.
