Was anyone else disturbed by King's portrayal of the young boy being tortured in Doctor Sleep?

My name is Michael and I have been reading Stephen King ever since I worked up the stones to steal my step-mother's copy of "Pet Semetary" in 8th grade. Scared the hell out of me and I've been a fan ever since. I dig the movies; both of them.

Dana-there actually is no relation between Sleep and Sematary, I just mentioned the latter because it was my 1st King book and it freaked me out, and the former because I have just read that scene I'm referring to and it's a rough one. Sorry if I mis-led you there, but to my knowledge, Pet Sematary II is the only continuation of that story, and I don't believe King had anything to do with that movie.

Kingricefan-I hear you on the kid-torture thing. When I read that scene, it was so difficult because I kept picturing my own son in that horrific situation. I'm now continuing Sleep in the hopes that the True Knot get taken down bad for what they've done.

My nephew was the same age as Gage was when I saw Pet Semetary in the theater. Afterwards I had to go to my sister's house and hug and hug that boy!

It's very...interesting? not really sure about the right word - to recall "Pet Sematary" and "Dr Sleep" in one context, I think. I found "Pet Sematary"
much more horryfying
and
more detailed propably in the hm, main kid scene
. Should definitely re-read both of them when I have my own kid.

Talking about disturbing "Dr sleep" disturbing themes...The flies thing was scary as hell to read, have anyone else found it hard? (I'm not spoiling, am I...?)
