...he's part Manx so his tail is bobbed, and yep-he's quite pettable....I can never get our black cat to sit still long enough for a photo-op...but the pooches?...that's a captive audience...:biggrin2:

Here is Ozzy with his leg bandage. Poor Ozzy has had a rough couple of weeks. He's 13 1/2 years old now and about 2 weeks ago, I discovered this gigantic raw wound on the inside of his back leg. I don't have a clue as to how it got there, it just showed up. I can't figure out how he did it and he never let on that he was hurt, this wound just kind of appeared out of the blue to me. I took him in to the vet on a Monday morning and the wound was so big, they couldn't do much with it except to give him antibiotics and treat the wound each morning as it heals up. The vet says he is healing remarkably well for his age. I take him to the vet each morning and he gets weirdly excited about going every morning like it's the most fun he's ever had in his life. ;-D

Then today, while I was at work we must have had a thunder storm (thunder started bothering him a couple years ago and the problem has got progressively worse as time has gone on). I got home and couldn't find him in the house. Then I heard him panting in the bathroom and I went in there and he was stuck in the bath tub. He must have got scared and climbed in there somehow and couldn't get out. He had to have been in there at least 2 or 3 hours, maybe longer. I lifted him out and he stumbled around for a while but finally got his legs under him and seems to be ok now. Like most dogs his size and age, he suffers from back leg problems and I have no idea how me managed to climb in the bath tub. I never dreamed he would have climbed in the tub. He seems ok now.

Sweet Ozzy. Feed him alfalfa tablets for his hips. Worked a miracle on our St. Bernard.

I've never tried alfalfa. I used Glucosamine for a couple of years and that seemed to help but about a year ago, the vet started him on an anti-inflammatory and Tramadol (for pain). The drugs worked wonders for a while but they don't seem to be as effective as they were when he started them. It's sad to see the old boy wearing down. But, he has had a very healthy life with the exception of the joint issues the past 3 years.

I'm using Glucosamine for my 5-year-old Chocolate Lab.. she keeps going lame in her right front elbow joint, scary that it is happening this early for her.
I might try the alfalfa too. (thanks Deej)

That is quite an assortment! I don't care for snakes or the creepy crawlies!

We gave our St. Bernard about 10 tablets of alfalfa in his wet food every day. This was AFTER he was totally down in his hips. Could NOT even stand. We were all crying and the vet wanted to put him down, but he said there was one last thing to try --Alfalfa. For us, it was a miracle and gave us many more years with the boy.
