I just discovered this today and wanted to pass it on , If you use Photobucket, as I have for the last over 10 years, you have to now start paying for it, if you want to share your photos here, or anywhere.

The worst part is, that although this became effective June 20th, and they announced it on the 26th, they have replaced all photos previously hosted , with this .....

I see this on mine as far back as the Hometown thread posts I did in January of this year! I don' know how far back in time this is happening but surely a lot of them now in the Birthday threads and the Jealous of the Big threads, I think its disgusting of them! Theyre allowing us to download our photos, but SOL for the ones that are already on public platforms like here.

They're just holding them hostage and will release them once you 'subscribe' to a payment plan.

heres a link to an article about it with other links to more .....

Sorry, I am not tech savvy, Can I get my photos back onto my computer? I have a ton of photos there that are precious to me and I'd like to get hard copies of them.

I know what you mean, I do too According to them, they are saying that we can log in and download them to our computers. If you can log into your account, then you should be able to pull all of them from the site, a problem for me with that is that I have 4 different albums that I haven't logged into a couple of them in years because I cant remember the passwords and email for them and have to pull the links from them as an outsider when I post, and the only alternative beyond that, is to screenshot them and save them into your computer but have to cut off the edges of their 'slide' border when you do it.

I told my kid about this and his comment, "who in the hell still uses Photobucket."

Yeah, thanks demon spawn, I do.

I guess this totally dates me. What are you young crazy kids using these days for your photos? I suppose it's that instagram newfangled thing.

Do you guys know how I can close out my account?
I'm going to do that too once I have my photos in a couple different places. I'm going to do that stick thingy whatever the hell you call it, then I will have them on my computer and then I'm going to have them turned into actual photographs. We can still do that, can't we?

Thank you Maddie for the heads up. I safely downloaded 243 pictures to my computer. And now I will also back them up so I have these in multiple areas.

That's wonderful! and Youre welcome, I came straight here when I found out. I have just gotten 2 of mine and Johns, and now, I'm on the outside looking in to one with 450 pics that the email address no longer exists for password reset and cant log in so I'm having to go manually thru them, it has a lot of stuff from here, even Miss Mods finger... and I had to grab this one .....

Sigmund What in the hill was I doing? I hope she remembers because I swear I don't.

I saw some posts on other sites back as far as 2009, where it appears, that everything we ever posted anywhere online from photobucket now have their disgusting Ransomware image in them.

We can still do that! :biggrin2:

I just can't find any settings/or a place where I can delete my account. (I have just copied everything I want to keep.)

I never have done it but this is the instruction that they have on the website and says it takes up to 7 days ....

How do I Delete my Account? – Photobucket Support
Oh boy, I'm looking through it all now and I just got really emotional about closing this thing down. I started it up in 2007 and that was a really big year for me... and ooh... this is really closing a chapter.

Thanks for your help Maddie....
