I am tired of deserts & fantasyland.... It's all a turn-off. Never been to Maine, but "Christine" is a fine approximation. If Mr. King comes back to the east coast, I can read again.
Ah yes . . . dear, dear Christine. Poor, misunderstood girl.
I wouldn't worry to much about growing "epically" weary. That can happen, although I find it something of an irony to hear anyone wishing King's stories were more "real." I can relate to
Christine mostly because the kids in that story were about my age (then) and I recognized the world they lived in. I've never been to Pittsburgh (and am not likely to go), but I did grow up on the east coast and there is a certain amount of comfort in recognizable things . . . if comfort is what you seek.
And plus besides . . . all those great songs.
Wonderful, wonderful.
You know what I bet?
I bet you would like
The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon.
