I've been meaning to post this for a long time. Did you know that you can nominate someone for a Profiles in Courage award? I read the book and was inspired by the thought.

It can be someone from any party. Any level of government -- from a city council person to the President of the United States.

Go to the web site link and check out the criteria for nominating. There is an online submission form, but you can get very elaborate and put together a packet of information for the committee.

I nominated someone once. This guy was local and totally someone I WOULD NOT vote for. BUT, he did ONE thing that I loved and I felt like it took a lot of courage to do it. Plus it made me laugh he had the balls to actually do it when people thought he was a nut. lol! I wish I could say more.

Anyway, you guys feel so strongly about your people in politics, nominate them for a Profiles in Courage award. They take candidates all year long. And no matter who it is, if they are nominated, they are considered.

...those with courage are in our military, hospitals, hospices, law enforcement, firefighting, schools, moms & dads, foster parents, volunteering etc.....not politics....I'm not pooping on your post Deej, it was wonderful of you to post it...just stating where I think courage truly exists...

Oh, I totally agree with you. But there are different types of courage. Physical courage, spiritual courage, verbal courage, etc.... Every once in a while, someone in the government does show courage and thinks independently.

I would like to nominate Stephen King. Even in America, where freedom of speech is taken for granted, it takes courage to write and publish fiction and non-fiction which is bold, irreverent, in your face,
    grossed-out, weird, and creepy.

Unfortunately, it has to be an elected official in some level of government.

No problem. Let's get Mr. King elected governor of Maine.

I don't think he would want the job for all the tea in China.

Wouldn't be the first time he has made a political statement. Recall he voted for Nixon once.
