Okay, so I know where to get a 600 page sketchbook (I bought one to fill up with concept art for my comic) and I am now seriously considering ordering another one and filling it up with Stephen King inspired drawings. For an artist like myself the descriptions in his books are mouth watering. If I finish the script for my first graphic novel soon this might be a good project to do, mainly just to satisfy my urge to be creative.

Hi Religiously_Unkind, I hope you post some when you get 'em done. Is your user name from Bowie? I like it!

Yep, he was my hero and I've been listening to his song Lazarus while I've been writing, it really helps. I can't believe he's dead, I can't believe I live in a world where there is no David Bowie, Wes Craven, or George Romero.

David Bowie was a big influence in/on my life. I saw him in concert during the serious moonlight tour and the glass spider tour but I grew up on 8-track tapes of his stuff. I stopped listening after tin machine but I stopped listening to most things new around that time and have delved into the old (both familiar and unfamiliar). Damn kids and their rap-hop (just kidding really...as Paul Simon wrote in one of his songs...every generation throws a hero up the pop charts).

I had been a casual David Bowie listener before high-school but sometime during my senior year my favorite teacher introduced me to his music I had not heard. I cried when I heard Rock and Roll Suicide because I thought it was about me.

Do it!!! What's the worst that can happen? :)
Happy sketching!! I used to be artsy but have kinda sorta lost it (use it or lose it, IMO.) There are a lot of really amazing descriptions in the books and (like you said) they're mouth watering, and he's able to paint a picture in the readers' minds. It would be really cool to see your interpretations (hint hint!)

To me, there are people who will never truly die...I can't explain it but it's like part of my mind won't accept it. Maybe it's unhealthy but it works, in one form or another.
There are certain artists I listen to when I have to do really large projects and other artists I listen to when the project is detailed and ornate. When we were painting inside earlier this summer, we had rock and roll playing to get the walls done. When it came time to get some trim painted (more detailed, more ornate, and much more tedious), the music was changed to a more classical style. It's amazing how the right music can put your brain into a specific state of mind and keep it there.
