In the book's afterword and a Q&A to promote 11/22/63, Mr King mentioned that Joe (his son) was the one who suggested the 'new and better ending.'

As this was a late rewrite, something that wasn't in the book when he originally completed it on December 18, 2010, I was just wondering if you knew when this change was made. Did it effect the release date?

No, it didn't affect the release date. I don't have the files to compare as I'm working from home so don't know the date when it was edited.
