I actually did something like this once . Took my pup Clancy and my African Grey Parrot to have a photo with Santa. Framed it and gave it to my then mother-in law at Christmas.
It stood for years next to the grandchildren pictures, maybe still there.

This reminded me, when my mom died and we had to sell her house, the opening to her kitchen had years of growth marks of my kids and her other grandkids. Years.
It was tough to paint that over.
