"Ship him out!" And Danica Patrick is driving the delivery truck. Yeah, Go Daddy. We noticed that.

Just got off the phone. The customer service guy asked me why I wanted to cancel my service.
I said "I saw the puppy mill commercial."
The guy said "You do realize that that was a test commercial and isn't going to be aired."
I said "Go daddy made it. The public saw it. I saw it. Cancel my service."
And it's gone. I'll be rebuilding on Yahoo. Or Wix. Or Weebly. Or Wordpress. Anyplace but there.
You're my hero! If I had an account, I'd cancel immediately.

Yeah, i had to watch it a second time. But the content I already quoted was inappropriate itself. If you ask me. And why did she sell a puppy which is not there at the moment it just doesn't make sense. This ad is just wrong!

This is my last word on this subject and then I'm outta here...

We all read and pretty much Love SK's writing. Over the years he has killed, skewered, mangled and vilified men, women, children, gays and animals. Some of us have gotten upset over this and stopped reading SK, but most of us wait eagerly for each new release. Why? Because we all know it is a work of fiction.

I see this commercial as a work of fiction: a satire on how Go Daddy's services can be used. Was the ad in bad taste? Sure, if this kind of stuff bothers you. If not, then it was clever and funny, like I found it. Once again, I love animals, especially puppies. I in no way saw this ad as abusing puppies or condoning puppy mills.

Thanks for reading.
Very fair statement. But King's work is presented as fiction, and if somebody wants to read the books or see the movies, they have to actively seek it out. Something like this, presented to the public to endorse a product is different. I see where you're coming from, but it's a very different scenario. A company needs to be more responsible.

You know what, f**k GoDaddy for intentionally trying to draw attention to itself so despicably. I'm very glad the ad won't be broadcast via the Super Bowl, but they've nonetheless succeeded; undoubtedly, they've created a much greater member base already, not of animal haters/abusers necessarily - though GoDaddy won't care what their new members are - but anyone finding whatever (else) GoDaddy has to offer interesting.

For what it's worth, they're also minus one.

I didn't really feel like it was too bad. (But maybe I'm just not understanding hidden/or underneath messages?)
Now... I love dogs and cannot stand cruelty in any way--but this was just (I thought) an advert for a company, yes? And an attempt at humour?

I sometimes think the ol' PC thing has swung too far... when did we stop laughing at (seemingly) silly, innocent fun?
(I wonder what Gary Larson (remember the farside comics anyone?) would think of this?)

*sigh* and now I'm wondering if thinking this makes me a bad person? See what world we live in now... I think 'balance' has been lost. :(

Flake, you are not a bad person and yes, we are too PC in many ways these days.

As a former advertising type person, I can see how this got dreamed up and everyone thought it was sooo funny and we are so cool and hipster. But in the US there is a very real problem with what is termed "puppy mills', where females are breed every time they are in heat, pups are kept in cramped, sometimes unsanitary conditions, and the only concern is a profit.

So, like I said earlier, someone down the line before production, should have questioned what many are saying, "Is this really the message we want to say about our company?" Believe me, ad folks dream up much worse everyday in brainstorming sessions. 99% never make it to fruition, as they shouldn't. I don't feel that boycotting Go Daddy is the answer, but certainly an option for anyone who feels they should. A mass hysteria and hate bandwagon isn't the answer either.

To quote Siggy: Peace.

I understand where you're coming from. They couldn't make a movie like Blazing Saddles today. And that's a shame. There are some ridiculously funny chuckles in there. PC has definitely become absurd. But in this case, I just can't support any company that treats animals like a disposable commodity ahead of valuing them as living, breathing, loving members of the family.

i'm not quite engaged with the outrage.

In a past Superbowl ad, a lady in a boat in a Dr. Pepper ad got her boyfriend eaten by an alligator.

In this one, a puppy returns and the "mom" is glad because the puppy already got sold - in an apparent parody of a Budweiser ad (I'm saying "apparent" because I haven't seen it).

I dunno. It wasn't all that funny to me because I didn't see the original ad, but it had an element of humor. It's fiction. It's not glorifying anything - in fact, it's making the puppy "mom" to be a bit of a bwitch.

I have some thing hosted on GoDaddy (starting by a former Marine), including the site that hosts my avatar, and I have no great draw to pull the hosting. If they lose a thousand accounts but gain a few thousand more out of curiosity, I guess it's a successful campaign, but I try to stay out of that drama.

...OK, I went back on my word-and I don't do such things lightly, but this has engendered such passion amongst us-I wanted to render an opinion as a member of the media....I found it tacky, and a poor attempt at lampooning/humor....will what I think mean a damn thing?...not at all, but as a broadcaster I have to support their right to be stupid...

Here's the Bud lost puppy commercial. When the pup finds its way home, the guy gives it a bath and wraps it in a warm, fuzzy towel. That's how you welcome a member of the family home. Not "I sold you. Ship him out!"
The spoof isn't just in poor taste, it advocates puppy mills, which often don't see parents and pups raised and treated in the most humane conditions. Bad call, all around.

I guess we saw it from different perspectives, Leppsie. The lady who "sold" the puppy didn't seem nice to me at all. But neither did the (implicit) alligator who ate the Dr. Pepper girl's boyfriend.
