I was curious, Moderator , about Mr. King's radio station. I assume he still owns it? If so, a couple questions.

How closely does King tie his brand equity into the radio station? I was wondering if he produces any content for it. Does he, for instance, host a weekly show where he plays music, interviews guests? Has he ever written a story specifically for the station? Has the station ever hosted any readings of his works, maybe a reading of "Jerusalem's Lot" on Halloween night by one of the DJs?

I also was curious if there are ever ad buys negotiated into his contracts. As an example, was the distributor of Cell ever obligated to buy ads on the station as part of his compensation? Will Sony use the station to sell The Dark Tower? I assume talent from King's projects have called in to the station in the past.

Just something I thought to ask this afternoon...

Rrty, if you own a smartphone (Cell gallows humor aside), you should be able to find a downloadable app for the station. I have it in place on my Samsung. Listen in and check it out.

WKIT in particular (he owns several stations) ties him into their broadcasts. It's billed as Stephen King's radio station but that is done as part of their station philosophy, not because it's what Stephen requires them to do. He is not hands on with their day to day broadcasts and has never written a story specifically for the station. We do donate books, audio books, etc. to them to use as give-aways for contests. Each Halloween the station sponsors a thank you for 200 listeners to attend a Stephen King movie (different each year) at the local cinema and each person gets a goodie bag, usually with station merchandise as well as items we've donated from the office. Stephen will sign books every so often for them to use as prizes for contests.

No, ad buys are not part of his publishing contracts. If talent has called in, I'm not aware of it as I don't listen to the radio other than on my way to/from work and that's on the sister station, WZLO, as I like their format better than the other stations.

Sometimes when I come on here I listen to his radio station, and I think it's good. I think that the announcers are good. What is 'Supercuts'? I wish I was able to see the movie there in the mall. If anyone can tell me the secret of life, let me know.
