You might try eBay...been a few years but I made purchases there (tools/accessories) without having an account. Maybe look at "completed listings"...type in "rage" "richard bachman" in their search engine...and when that page comes up, on the left there are a number of options one can click on. Or wait...maybe this will work:
rage richard bachman | eBay
what you could do is try to contact those sellers whose goods did not find a market, make them an offer and see what gives. I've also purchased used books at Amazon...there's a number of sellers who sell there, who aren't called "Amazon" if you're opposed to the Big Names...made many purchases that way. All else fails send me your address.

I have found many copies of this edition (trade paperback) at thriftstores and used bookstores. Usually for around $6. The hardback copies usually run a little bit more. If you live in the US check thriftbooks.com. They have cheap prices for their books and shipping is included. Don't bother trying for the hardback because they want way too much for those!

If you don't have a Goodwill or used bookstore near you, you can order The Bachman Books from amazon. Prices start out around $2.00.

I havn't read rage either. I wondered who it was living under my rock with me :)

Apparently it's something people don't want to carry etc. because of the content. So it's (supposedly) hard to find... we'll see!

This is really embarrassing to admit but I probably have read it. LOL. I know I have read the other 3 in the Bachman Books, I guess when I was surfing last night, I saw it as a solo first edition and forgot about it... ? Didn't think at 51 I'd be losing it this early in life! Thank you all for your input! :facepalm_smiley:

Just came back from a used bookstore where they had a copy of the newer trade paperback (published 1996, I think) with Rage in it and were asking $5.50 for it. There are copies out there, you just have to take the time to look for them. And, like Prufrock said above- if you want an original 1st printing paperback you're going to have to pay a couple of hundred for it.

Everytime I go to one of those stores, the first section I check is the book section. 9 out of 10 times they have at least 5 SK books there and they'll be in good condition too. Right now I'm go through my collection and get rid of all the books that I probably won't read again. I wanna get some signed stuff, some first editions and special books like that cool edition of Salem's Lot with the pictures.

One of the reasons the first printing hardcover of The Bachman Books is so expensive is that there were only 15,000 copies done (which is a very small number for the trade edition), and they were done at the same time as a much larger printing of the trade (large size) paperback. Most people opted to get the much more common trade paperback. I got one of each.

Took me 20 years of perusing thrift stores and used bookstores before I FINALLY found a 1st printing hardback at a Goodwill!
