Driving in to work, there's a shop on the corner. Used to be an antique shop but they closed and had covered up windows for a few months. Today there is a awning (yes, canvas not aluminum!) and the name of the shop is Gilt & Ash.

Nope, I'm not going in there for anything!:O_O:

A lot of disaster. The tornado leveled a Starbucks. Thankfully, the manager got everyone into the bathroom and they survived. Miracles abound that there are only minor injuries to report.

Tornadoes are so scary, I experienced one in Illinois when I was around 5 or 6 years old. At least we get some warning in Florida if a hurricane is heading our way!!!

Taking daughter to college Saturday. Just informed today by the university that faculty could go out on extended strike Monday. The college can't pick up the damn phone when I call... but emails me to let me know all that money (which was more than expected because of a clerical error, and had to be in on time or my daughter could lose her scholarships) might have been pissed away for who knows how long. :(

I went with my Plan B, which was to set up a payment plan hoping the financial aid would come through before the second payment was due. Checked today and the financial aid came through, and I only owe $7.50 anymore. Had to waste $35 to set up a payment plan, which included a stipulation she commit to the Spring 2017 semester. College textbooks have become a real racket also. You can’t even get used books most of the time anymore because the professors in most classes don’t want to have to deal with homework, assignments, or labs. So you need to buy a new book that comes with a access code that only is valid for a few months after purchase in order to do the homework, assignments, or labs over the internet. Used books and rented books don’t have valid codes. Last semester books for 5 classes were almost $900. She said quite a few students last semester had to re-buy their books new after classes started, and go through the hassle of returning used books they had purchased beforehand online. I checked every book online for this semester but they all warned the access codes for used books were no longer valid.

And when did Barnes and Nobel take over running college bookstores?

My youngest daughter (the boy I always wanted) is a high school sophomore this year. She’s on the tennis team this Fall. The coach decided he was only going to put Seniors and Juniors on the varsity team. My daughter has to go to all the JV games and the varsity games because he plays her on the varsity team ahead of some varsity players as she’s better than some. She doesn’t feel that is right that he plays her in the varsity games but refuses to put her on the varsity team. She’s been quite vocal about it. The coach told her he’s getting sick of her demeanor, stubbornness, and orneriness. I wonder where she gets it from? :umm:

Does it come in a tube? :)

I've checked them out already. The problem is no access codes for rentals, because they aren't any good after being rented. Their prices on new books aren't much different than the school bookstore... at least on the books I've checked. And I don't get why it could take up to a month for you to get your books. Do they make them to order?

Coach can't have his cake and eat it too! If he wants only Seniors and Juniors on Varsity he should not be allowed to use your daughter. Vice vera- if he does use her, he needs to change his rule on Juniors and Seniors only. He's a twit!! Your daughter has every right to express her "emotions". What kind of example is the coach setting when he breaks the rules .
