The kiddo went back to school yesterday. Not a moment too soon!
This was our roughest summer ever. If I'm gonna be honest, our roughest year ever.
The new program has a maximum of 6 students at a time and is for severe special needs kids only.
It isn't even in an actual school building. A vast majority of the day is spent working on behaviors, in the hopes that after some time the students can be transferred back to a special class in a regular school setting.
Crossing fingers/saying prayers.

Best of luck in everything.

Our daughter is on the Autism Spectrum and we've been fighting with our school for several years to get things done for her. Most schools receive government grants of $50,000 per special needs student-make sure anything you need, you make THEM pay for it. Being a special needs parent is tough, but don't pity us...it makes us stronger.

Thanks!
We never had issues before with our district. My husband and I really did agree with "the team" all these years...until they let a teacher transfer in March of last school year. Our kiddo had been through MANY staff/classroom changes there already but was finally showing some progress with this new teacher.
When I got the note she was leaving, I wanted to cry...or strangle her. I wouldn't even go to the last IEP with her...I sent my husband alone, because I knew I would not be able to be polite to these people who pulled the rug out from under my son.

So, even though this new placement is out of district and costs them MANY times more than regular special ed, I fought to get him in.

Now, I just hope it helps, since it's pretty much the last resort.

SkiMom ... Fringe rocks the foehammer ... one of my favorites .... (Walter Bishop singing: "Hard Artichokes Rarely Keep, Norwegian Elephants, Singapore Sleep" --- as in the name of some secret project "Harkness". Among many, many other great moments.)

I have watched Stranger Things, Heroes Reborn, now just about done with The Returned ... also a really great sheww ... the last was originally a French series Les Revenants ... it was on the Sundance Channel but I didn't get to watch it .... dead people return alive ... not from the same time, some from seven years, six years, four years back ... a little boy shall lead them.

Flake, I brought my laptop to a friend's house and his daughter's cats tried to enter a reaalllly long password into it ... I assume one laid on top of the keyboard while we were gone ....
