Oh beautiful. I love the hushed silence of the snow. The occasional sound of that "fumpt" sound when tree branches get overburdened and drop their weight. Maryann you must miss it.

I do miss it's beauty, Staro. I was lucky enough to have it for part of my life. Certainly do not miss driving in it or shoveling. I hold it in memories. May you enjoy a beautifully white Winter.

Snow is a luxury for me, have only been in it maybe half to a dozen times, but I guess I would soon get sick of it if I had to live with it every day each winter.
The worst thing about living in snow country is having to scrape the snow off your vehicle before you can go anywhere, and too often having to shovel snow away from the car.

I used to like snow honest I did..However, last winter in Indiana pretty much ruined any love I had for the fluffy white stuff. It was almost a daily event and it got really old shoveling to go to work. It is pretty, if you do not have to drive it in to get to work.
I've always loved watching snowfall, especially the first snows of the season. But I don't think I want to again live far enough north that winters are as impactful as I've experienced them. In terms of winter Michigan and Wisconsin are not for me.

What is it about the China Doll story that is so darn scary that it carries through generations? I remember being scared to death by it when I was a kid (though I barely remember any of it now), my older kids were terrified by the story, and now the 15 yr old passed it on to the 8 yr old...who had a nightmare and ended up in my bed. What is it about some stories that makes them...primal is the word, perhaps? I think I need to go re-read the part in Danse Macabre about the Tale of the Hook :)

Oh gosh - someone told that story to my daughter when she was in 3rd grade. It took a long time for her to sleep without worrying. And now that the movie Annabelle is out, the previews to that freak her out. When I was a kid it was Bloody Mary in the mirror. Or the hook hand guy and the teenagers making out in the car. We do love to be scared.

Yep, Bloody Mary will be next (though I've warned Ms. 15 that the next time she tolls him one of these, he sleeps with her for a week). *sigh*

Remember me posting about that little kid that took all those packets of heroin to daycare? Well the mother ratted out her supplier! It is our neighbor! I'm so glad they finally got him!
They got him with $150,000 and a large amount of heroin.
That is why the cops took all their belongings that was at their house. He was released from jail, but will be headed back there when he goes to trial.
His wife is always in scrubs, and I can't figure out why she would let him sell heroin being in the medical profession. Shame on her!

 yikes! I'm glad they got him.

Update on our nasty neighbors. The health dept was called, directed to county code then city code compliance. That got them a visit from the landlord, who the lady at city code knew personally. The yard and driveway have been cleaned up, and they have actually been pretty quiet for the last 10 days. They are still hauling stuff out pretty regularly, but we don't know if they are moving or cleaning. But we are happy the yard is cleaned up and they have minded their manners!
