May all be well or on the mend.

After the video was released.

WARNING! Extremely disturbing!!!!!

Did the NFL have this video when they gave him the two game suspension? (Why not? If TMZ can get the video why not the NFL?)

Domestic violence is a huge problem. Maybe this will throw some light on this issue.

Thoughts, please.

Peace.

This is disgusting. Men are just physically stronger. For a man to get physically violent with a woman is despicable and he is not a real man. I don't care how much money you have, how cute you are. If you abuse any life force that is weaker than you, you are trash. I'm glad they cut him from the team. But yes, if they knew about this previous, why did it take going public for something to be done. Men need to shut other men down for this crap.

Couldn't see the spoiler but agree completely with the sentiments. If it was as bad as it sounds couldn't the cops arrest him? That vid must be evidence that stands up? To hit anyone weaker than you, be it man, woman or animal, is disgusting. Shouldn't have to be a media drive about before they act. Just get out and stay out.

Looks more like felony assault. I wonder if we'll see the state bring those charges. Seems like I heard she dropped charges but the DA wouldn't. Something like that. I believe in forgiveness, but for the league to send a message to other players he needs to get the same kind of ban Pete Rose got - lifetime, period.
I hope he gets help, but I also hope he doesn't get to set foot on a field again.

I pray he does not take the backlash of the video being made public out on her.

Sad. I'm getting pretty disgusted with the behavior of NFL players. Seems this sort of thing is far too common in the NFL. I'm finding it hard to care about these players any more, which is a shame, because I do love the sport of football. But the NFL is coming to represent an organization of thugs, criminals, women-haters, dog-fighters, drunk drivers, drug-takers, you name it. Not to mention the selfish jerks who don't care about the team, the history of the sport, and good sportsmanship.

More importantly why didn't the prosecutor have this video.

After this happened, they got married and she refused to testify against her husband. I would think with the video and witnesses that were there when he dragged her out of the elevator, they might have had a decent case.

Hi Sir!

This is a summary of what happened in court:

In March, a grand jury indicted Rice on third-degree aggravated assault, a felony under New Jersey law that carries a maximum of five years in prison. Rice, who pleaded not guilty, avoided trial and in May was sentenced by New Jersey Superior Court Judge Michael Donio to a pre-intervention program for first-time offenders. The program carries no jail or prison time, but requires Rice to undergo extensive counseling and obligates him to stay out of trouble upon threat of immediate incarceration. While many commentators regarded the penalty as light, especially for such a violent offense, Rice had no prior criminal record and placement in a pre-intervention program is arguably consistent with penalties for most first-time offenders. It is also unclear whether Palmer, who later said she "deeply regretted" her role in the incident, would have been willing to testify against Rice. A victim testifying is not essential to a domestic violence prosecution, particularly one in which a video captured at least part of the incident, but it is advantageous to prosecutors in convincing jurors. Given these issues, acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain assured the public that pre-intervention was the correct penalty for Rice. "After considering all relevant information in light of applicable law," McClain said at the time, "it was determined this was the appropriate disposition.”

The initial two game suspension for Rice domestic violence had many people outraged. Especially when another player was suspended for ONE YEAR for smoking pot. (Admittedly, this player had flunked drug tests a number of times.)

Okay. Don't everyone jump on me here. I am a fierce advocate for victims of domestic violence, men, women, children etc.

But... how is the loss of his job/career going to impact Ray Rice, his wife, child, their marriage, family and therapy?

On the other hand, what else can the NFL do in this situation but suspend him and set standards?

Peace.

(Btw, one clip I Saw starts outside the elevator and it looks like as she walks past him she smacks him. That does not mean she got what she deserved, but I pray these two never have children.)

And regarding women, does anyone watch America's Got Talent? The judge that used to be a spice girl, can't remember her name, if she were a man people would be up in arms. She often gets mad and hits Howie. Can you imagine if he ever hit her back? And I mean hit with the same or less force. (She definitely looks stronger than him.). Same with the two women' making sexual comments to male contestants. If Howie or Howard said those things it would all hit the proverbial fan. It's no less wrong when a woman does these things.

Yes, Ma'am.

From what I understand the court had video of just Rice dragging his then fiancee out of the elevator. Not the entire video that was released today. And I wonder the exact same thing, why did the prosecution NOT have the video? Or did they? And if they did see the entire video, they still believed a pre-intervention program was proper?

Peace.

They had to suspend him. As to his career he can, as so many others who failed in one, go for another and succeed. He would have had to sooner or later anyway. playing isn't a lifetime job. I don't see why he cant succeed somewhere as long as he doesn't start sitting in a corner and feeling sorry for himself. A man should take responsibility for his actions. Lets hope he has enough of character in him to try a new start and if he has problems lets help him, as a society should help, if possible.

This situation has all kinds of crud happening.

They were both drinking. Not good. When the video first starts it appears when Mrs. Rice is passing him it appears Mr. Rice spat at her and she swipes at his face. In the elevator, he is very close to her and she appears to try to elbow him back. When she moves her elbow it seems he pushes her and moves away. She goes at him and he then throws the punch. She starts to fall and slams her head on the handrail (I think I saw a whip like movement) and she falls to the floor. That is when he tries to pick her up but she is dead weight. He finally drags her out (in a very callous manner IMO) and leaves her sprawled and exposed.

IDK.

Absolutely. Women should stop this pounding on men bullsh*t. It's not cute. And what? You can hit a man because he's a man and he's supposed to take it? It's not right either way. Although, like you said, just because she hit him doesn't make it okay for him to hit her. BUT, I do understand a guy wanting to hit a woman who is constantly pounding on him. I understand that. But I just expect men to be gentlemen. Yes, I wear rose colored glasses and live in the 1950s.

I had a neighbour that used to beat her husband. Nobody realized what was going on. He tried calling the police and got laughed at. Literally laughed at. He would not hit her back. She was a very large woman. I think someone finally witnessed her beating him and called the police. Then she was gone.

He stayed because of their son. He would not leave his son because he was afraid she would unload her anger on him with her husband gone, and he knew better than to expect he would get custody.

As for this Rice couple, her smacking him, whether he provoked her or not, was wrong. But in no way, shape, or form, do I think she deserved being knocked out. She did NOT deserve to get hit.

But then she married him. So when he does it again....
